Before getting all happy yay yay we beat Butler.
Now show me something and get a win in this game, or it's back to one under 500 once again.

My wife, a Nova grad, invited a bunch of her college friends over to watch the game. I hope I don’t have to kick them out at halftime.

This will be a huge issue come BET and Big Dance time.

More so the Big East, IMO, because you have to come right back.

At least you get a day off in between NCAA games. That can make all the difference sometimes, though more rest would obviously be ideal.

My friend is a nova grad too and we will be there. I am going to be bold and predict a st. john's victory.

Any idea why the postgame Butler thread is locked already? Anyway, the win last night sets up a huge matchup vs. Nova that can put us over .500 and really help with seeding in the NCAA's if we make it. Though we got the W, we did not look like we were close to running on all cylinders. Teams are figuring us out and that attacking the paint and rebounding will give them a good chance against us. I hope Nova just chucks and prays and goes cold, because that's our best shot. Would be very cathartic to see a Marquette at home type game vs. Nova.

Don't forget, we are organizing a pregame meetup at Local NYC on 33rd and 8th right across from the Garden. Red awning, can't miss it. $3 beers including craft, free wings (Mullinsmaniacs footing the bill), and 4 raffles for a Mullin jersey among some cool surprises. 1-4 PM...come take advantage!

Coming out slow with poor shooting has been a factor in some defeats and coming out hot, grabbing a lead, only to fade in stretch, has been an issue in others. (And a win last night)

Against a disciplined team like Nova, SJU has to be competent from start to finish. Avoiding those famous SJU shooting droughts is key. Btw, a common quality of Nova & Marquette, two best BE teams, is ability to draw fouls, not only resulting in a lot of FTs, but obviously putting opposition in foul trouble. That’s a killer potentially for our thin roster. Not only is Nova adept at drawing fouls through crafty play, but zebras treat them like Duke in that regard.

This describes north of 90% of teams in college basketball.

As a reminder to the forum, there are two teams in each game. There are ebbs and flows in nearly every game between similarly matched teams. We don’t have the ability to control every second of any game. Even the Marquette games...we benefitted by their shooters missing plenty of shots. We also didn’t get bad whistle.

Making my season debut at the Garden this Sunday. Hopefully I'll bring us luck.

Should be glad you didn't make the first two trip to the Garden.

We all knew coming into the season we lacked bigs. Another problem is the "bigs" we do have don't rebound much either. Last game Keita 20 minutes zero rebounds. Last night get killed off the boards by 15 and our starting big plays 41 minutes and is only able to pile up 2 rebounds. Rebounding is a mindset and desire. Go after some rebounds big fellas!!!!!

Maybe play Roberts more early, seems productive in points and rebounds every time he plays. Worth a shot, how many more mistakes could he make than Simon?

Very few tickets left on TM, mostly individual. I would grab them while you can if you still haven't pulled the trigger. Garden should be rocking on Sunday!

To be honest, had we lost yesterday I'm not sure I would be making this trip. Every game is causing me a crazy amount of stress.

Since we're 6-6 rather than 5-7, I'm now pretty excited to go. I actually feel better playing against a ranked team like Nova than a non-Tournament team like Providence/Georgetown/DePaul, because at least we know the team will be excited. We'll be underdogs by a couple points I'm sure, but if we lose it's not a big deal as long as we finish 3-2.

Expecting this to be a sell out, or at worst very close to one.

In Keita's case it may be superb mindset and desire along with bad hands.

The key to this game is the energy level. If they come out with the same energy and intensity they did in the first game against Nova, I think we pull it out. If they play tired like they did last Saturday against Providence, they lose.

If I were Mullin, I'd make sure the team gets a good night rest the night before and install some kind of curfew if possible. I heard last weeks game they stood in a hotel in the city the night before. My guess is that most of team took advantage and stood up late which resulted in their lack of energy last week.

I had previously predicted a victory over Nova, however after the pass two games I am deeply concerned with our inconsistencies. Watching many of the Nova games I am really impressed how both Booth and Paschall can turn it on at the end of their games. Not worried about their big men hurting us down low. Better keep an eye on Gillespie who has been as hot as a piston. Got to hit the boards. Oh I forgot we don't rebound on the offensive boards.

They always stay in a hotel prior to MSG games. They also have a curfew. What they do in the rooms is always a concern.
