This is a huge game.

I think we lose to DePaul and split with Xavier. If we don't beat SH at the Garden on Saturday, we could actually miss the dance.

Hopefully SJU exacts a little revenge and puts tonight’s loss behind them in “Zebragate” encore;

Can't see us coming out anything but charged up for this game, but team has surprised us before. Need to win this one to make NCAA bid likely (don't see us losing last three) and Wednesday play in game unlikely.

This now becomes a must win game. I also think that we will get the calls in this game based on what took place last game and the fact that we are home. Still everything is based on our ability to knock down threes and knock them down early because that's how we approach every game. If we can knock down shots early and get a fair game called by the referees I think we will win this game. When our shots are falling our defensive effort also improves immensely. On the contrary, if we do not hit threes early our team will not adjust and start driving the ball, they will just keep chucking and then if they are hit with few early questionable foul calls this game will go downhill real fast as we have seen in other games except for Villanova.

Even though the nova game ended on a high note, we have still yet to come out and play well at MSG to start a game.

Seton hall is a great matchup for us. We didn’t even play all that well in the first matchup on the road but we had a lead the whole time.

Thankfully, they aren’t a great rebounding team. Their best rebounder is Mamukukawhatever who averages 7 a game, and even he likes to float around the perimeter and play like a guard, so that limits his ability to kill us on the offensive glass

Alright, I'm going to catch my breath, flush last night's game out of my thoughts and get ready for Saturday night. I hope the team does the same.

BPI currently gives us a 68% chance of victory, but they have not been too good with their predictions in our games recently (in either direction).

In my view, there is no question that Ponds is one of the most talented players to have worn an SJU jersey over the past 30+ years. But, especially over the past few games, there is an attitude adjustment that needs to be made — both for his and the team’s benefit. Not giving the ball back to the ref during the Butler win, getting up slowly after not getting the expected call on missed layups (and expressing corresponding dismay) is not a recipe for success. Unfortunately or fortunately, it is up to him to make the requisite changes — hope he does so ASAP; again, for both himself and the team.

This very well may be the last handful of games of his college career — what comes next for himself and the team may very well be impacted by whether he can/wants to make these changes.

Senior Night for Marv Saturday, noticed Cragg referencing close to 18,000 seats sold btw.

Interesting. Unless Marv's family can't make it, why wouldn't they do it at the Xavier game?

Another thought: The Xavier game is a 6:30 pm start. That usually means a late arriving crowd at CA, regardless of opponent or tickets sold (nothing we can do: Apparently it's FOX who makes the call on that).

They get people in the stands if they do it before the game on Saturday.

There are teams “in” with 1 and 0 quad 1 wins. We don’t need this win, though it would be nice.

Lemme engage in blasphemy.
What the hell ‘good’ would it do to limp into the Dance with a ‘play-in’ ticket or a low seed and lose the first game?
Would it mean recruits are knocking down the door because we ‘made’ the Dance?
I highly doubt it.
Would it mean, we finally became relevant?
I highly doubt it.
So who cares and who needs it.
Would be a useless ‘consolation’ prize imho.
Wake me up if we roar into the Tournament.
Otherwise, fuhgeddaboudit.
At this point, I can’t wait until MLB OD.
Both the Yankees and Mets may be good this season.
Something to look forward to.
Lol.

A loss puts us at 7-8, DePaul had their way against us at our home, we'll lose at theirs as well. Oh but Ponds didn't play? Well, what happened last night at PC with everyone healthy?
And most like split vs X.
That's 8-10. So we can still get in at 8-10, then wow I know nothing about coll bball.
Thought we had a real weak ooc schedule which was why we couldn't ranked after going 12-0, but can get into the ncaa with a 8-10 b.e. after a weak ooc schedule? Then I admit, I know nothing.

I'm sticking to my opinion. Can they play better then 1-2 in the last 3? Yes, they could surprise us.
But, with how they look right now, I'm predicting 1-2 in the last 3.
So yeah, to me Saturday is the season, gotta end the season at least 9-9, for a chance.

You got your opinion, I got mine.

And all are welcome to their opinions, that’s what these boards are for, anyway. But numbers are numbers and they don’t lie. Our conference record is not as important as the bubble is. It is historically weak this year, and we are way ahead of the current bubble teams, even if we were to go 1-3 the rest of the way. The committee values quad 1 wins as their #1 indicator for tournament teams, and we are way ahead of bubble teams in that category.

I would hope we go 3-1 or at least 2-2 the rest of the way, but we all know how unpredictable this team is so I’m not going to get too high or low after each game.

We have been to 3 tournaments in 20 years and you really wouldn't care about the NCAAs if we do not enter on a high note? come on man, enjoy the journey
