Ranked team at home in a game that'll likely be a Vegas toss-up.

Must win.

I'll guess St. John's will be favored by 1. Vegas doesn't like PC since their advanced metrics (such as NET) aren't as good as their ranking. Lots of close wins. If they beat a hot Marquette team tomorrow then I'll change my guess.

Probably gonna open as a dead-on pickem that could get bet up to 1 or 1.5 in either direction, unless something crazy happens or somebody of significance gets injured for Providence in their game tomorrow.

Providence is only 1.5 point favs at home against Marquette tomorrow. No way they open as more than a 1 point fav on the road against us.

Providence is obviously a better team but that’s life in the Big East. Need to defend home court and handle business this game. There’s opportunity with the schedule getting more favorable. 6/11 games left are at home. Butler, G’town, and Depaul on the road are winnable games. Xavier and Marquette are likely loses at their place. One game at a time its there for the taking lets see if the team can step up. Any news on getting that Marquette game at home rescheduled?

Think we hear the same thing for 3 yrs coach by now you  should have fixed it. Try bringing in players who can shoot there out there.
Every other BE team found them.

PC pulled it out against Marquette today. What a game! Kinda glad they won. They’d be a different team emotionally if they came to CA after a loss.

Another squeaker win for Providence, but an excellent one nevertheless.

I'm going to keep my pick of St. John's as a 1 point favorite, but anywhere from +2 to -2 wouldn't surprise me.

#17 Providence won @ #21 Xavier and vs #22 Marquette this week. I expect they'll move up around 6 spots. Possibly top 10, but probably just outside it.

Hmmmmm watch St Johns the night before our wedding risking getting so angry that Nat gets so angry at me for being angry again and calling off the wedding or watch Peru-Ecuador World Cup Qualifier and us be angry together if Peru loses. That's an easy decision :)

I'll put the 114 message group on mute and log back on thursday. lol

Providence is tough for us because of their athletic size. Watson is a beast. They can be inconsistent from the 3 point line so if they are off from 3 we have a shot

Put a body on Watson to keep him off the boards.

I will go with Providence as a 1.5 to 2 point favorite.

It will be interesting to see what change in strategy we will deploy vs. Watson.  He appeared too quick for Soriano, but over the past couple of games Soriano has avoided bad fouls that have hurt him all season.

Is Stanley strong enough to contain Watson.

Game 1 we stayed with Providence for 3/4 of the game, then Watson took over.

Outcome may depend on how well we do in this area.

I've watched a lot of PC this year. Interestingly, Watson is a little less the focus of their offense, most of his numbers are down from last year: minutes down from  32 to 27 and ppg down from 16.9 to 13.5. He is still a beast if he gets the ball right under the basket but seems a little less aggressive on offense and disappears in some games (of course he won't do that against us lol). They are playing this kid Croswell a lot when Watson rests and he is also a load.
But if we can control Bynum & Durham and not give Reeves & Horchler open threes, we have a shot to beat them at home imho. They are on a 5 game winning streak that started with us, only fitting we end it! Season is on the line imho.
Agree Beast that Soriano has improved on limiting silly fouls and staying with his man, hopefully our scheme doesn't have him switching off his man which is where he often gets lost.

Good analysis as always.   This is an incredibly important game for us.    Almost certainly NCAA hopes would be dashed for now, although some of our most faithful fans have lost faith in that anyway.   Should we not win this, our season takes a different trajectory, almost certainly requiring we win all games vs. the bottom of the league (Georgetown, Butler, and DePaul) and that will be pretty difficult.

We could still have a successful season if we get swept by VIllanova.   In a lot of ways, they were a lot more impressive than Kansas, although they play a lot better at home.     Getting swept by Providence will make the path to a 10 win BE regular season much more difficult based on what we've seen so far.   There are a lot of good Big East teams, and you can't fall into the 2 loss hole so quickly.

Pumped for this game - top 15 team on campus is rare. First campus game with students back, hopefully they turn out, SJU is trying to get their attention with giveaways.

Doing 0 research, feel like SJU has had Providence's number at home last couple years. Carnesecca can get real loud and is a tough place for any opponent when the fans get involved.

If the house can't be packed for a game like this.... don't see much hope for this fanbase

The place should be pretty loud.

I was at the Kansas game, and many in attendance were younger fans who obviously knew our team well.  10,000 (or close to it) came to UBS.   This is where the efforts to build a new fan base should come from.   Of our older fans the people who come now are basically it.    The rest come occasionally.  The younger fans that showed up UBS were engaged, and I think that's where we should focus our attention, as well as on students.

Efforts are obviously underway to make CA and MSG the place for our students to be on game days.   It's impressive to see what other schools have accomplished.   Villanova has a lottery system for tickets and fills the student section with men and women.

When we win enough it will happen, but until then we are trying to make CA especially and MSG a fun place to be for students.

This is a huge game not only to keep our slim NCAA tournament hopes alive but to get our fans out to the remaining three CA games. I guess that could be four if the Marquette game gets made up but that seems unlikely. The Villanova and UCONN games at MSG should get decent crowds from the road fans.

Whatever tricks we have in the bag, we need to pull them out on Tuesday. It would be nice to get this victory win the two on the road and draw strong crowds to MSG when we return home.
