Does anyone know if Smith, Pinzon or Coburn will be playing tomorrow?

Coach said in post Depaul presser that Coburn and Pinzon would be game-time decisions. Since Pinzon was already out of protocol Wednesday, hard to imagine he won't play. Assume with Coburn it will be based on how his back feels and if he was able to practice well today. No idea what the deal is with Smith though.
I agree I think Pinzon is available, he was on the sideline with the team, so he was out of quarantine.  Smith was available, it was just a coaching decision there, and no idea on Coburn, but honestly I don't think it matters, he was already the last guard in the rotation, plus he hasn't practiced and in a game of this magnitude, I doubt even if available he plays.

Having either Pinzon or Smith ready to play tomorrow as an additional ball handler would be a huge plus. Durham is a big guard who is extremely good at getting to the line (104 free throw attempts in 15 games) and I could see him getting our guards in foul trouble.

I wonder what Cooley is doing to be so effective at getting his players to stick around. I know it's a good program, but most kids are interested in playing professionally and making money. Someone like Watson certainly did not need to come back for a 5th year.
Perhaps, just perhaps, Cooley has got them to understand that a good university degree is worth far more over a 40-45 year career than playing pro in some remote corner of the world for a few years and then having little to fall back on.
I assume pandemic may have limited overseas opportunities and hence why guys like Watson and many of the 5th year players stuck around.
NIL probably had an impact as well.  NIL is actually a game changer.  Instead of some players going overseas to make 40-60k, with NIL they can stay in the states, where they get more exposure and be with family, and still make some decent money.
I haven't seen anything much about where kids will make money, but it seems to me that in places where pro teams don't exist and most fans follow their local college team, there may be a greater opportunity for a kid playing in Omaha or even Lexington, where a local car dealership or other business can get money to players by using them in an ad rather than donate directly to the school.  It then becomes a legal form of booster payouts.

Johnnies opens as a 4.5 dog tomorrow, not bad, let’s steal one. Cooley has had best of SJ for most part, but Johnnies have won last 3. Not sure if that is good or bad, but here’s to us!

That point spread surprises me. Since Prov is getting four or four and one half for the home court the oddsmakers are declaring SJU and Prov equals. If COVID is not influencing the spread this is a pleasant surprise.

Reeves who has played very well being out helps. Would love to see Dylan bully “surfer boy” Horchler and take him out of his game. Size disparity won’t mean much to fearless WuSu imo.

This is a much more winnable game for us than UCONN imho. Not a must game in any sense of the word, but for me a win will make me pretty optimistic for an 11 win BE season.

I just have a good feeling that we pull the upset tomorrow and the W boys (Wusu & Wheeler) play well. Will probably live to regret this post lol.

Surprisingly, I feel good about our prospects tomorrow.  I've seen almost all of Providence's games, and without Reeves, I think the match-up will be tough but realistic if we play smart.

Reeves is sort of their Superman

As are most of you I am pumped for todays game, the eternal optimist Redmen fan.I sit here all morning and can’t wait for game to start ! I see this as an opportunity to perform to our capabilities. As in last couple of CMA years, at some point in the season it comes together for the kids. Hoping todays the day! Then toasts tonight!

Today is a big game for us.  Get this win and we can discuss legitimate pathways to an at large bid.  Lose this game and the uphill battle remains.  We have to win at least one Quad-1 road game and today might be one of our better opportunities.  Let's go Johnnies!

That's really good news. Provides us with more depth on the bench.

Providence has given us a lot of trouble in recent years. Yes, we have won the last 3 in a row but prior to that, we lost 9 of the previous 10 games to them.

I really think that, if we can contain Watson, we have a really good shot at winning this one today.

GO JOHNNIES!!!
