We are playing well.  Let's just keep up this type of effort at both ends and good things will happen.  We aren't going undefeated through the end of the season.  That said, games we win right now against our middle of the pack competitors take a lot of stress off as the season wears on, if you win the games.  Cooley is going to have them prepared for what's coming.  Let's just get after it.

Cooley better, because we're going to give them hell.

To me, the bottom line is our defense. We need to turn teams over and generate offense and increase our number of offensive possessions through turnovers. If we can do that , like we did against Villanova, we will win. If we don't , then we will lose.

The loss of Bynum has hurt Providence big time.  Watson's average down; Duke's shooting has fallen off and he is a turnover waiting to happen.  In addition, he is playing 39 minutes per game since Bynum went down--we can wear him down real easy with full court pressure.  This is a very winable game and don't believe CMA will have them looking past Friars.

I vaguely recall us winning @ Providence with Marcus LoVett leading the charge so it couldn't have been too long ago
Good memory. January 2017 we won there. But overall they've beat us 10 out of the last 12 times. Seems like they're always able to dictate the tempo in those games and turn it into a slog.

Him and Mullin were yelling at each other after the game towards the locker room

Yup. Lovett was unstoppable that game.

Need Roberts to stay on the floor and gang rebound because Watson is load and he will have those kids attacking the glass.

Might be Toro’s game to give us 5-10 minutes.

Maybe he can get himself and Watson thrown out of the game like they used to do in hockey that would help.

The purpose of the defense is not to force turnovers, but to get the other team out of what they do, and make them uncomfortable. Turnovers are a product of that.

Notice what really went down was other teams scoring and percentages against us now. Biggest thing this game will be cleaning up the glass. Finishing defensive possessions.

We need every game.they are bigger thus we need a game like Villanova,if we do not shot as well or play with the same D intensity we lose

For the historians on the board, this will be our first appearance @ PC's Alumni Hall in 49 years.                Joe Mullaney Court .

If Bynum is still out for them they have very limited guard depth. Duke is obviously a stud and is extremely capable at the 1 but is more of a hybrid who could benefit from playing along side another capable ball handler. Our pressure should give them problems and if we are lucky enough to get Duke in foul trouble we could really exploit their lack of guards.

Plus the game is at Providence, where I don't think we've won since the Ice Age.

we literally never win at Providence, and they have a good team. If we lost on the road to Providence that's not a let down at all.

I know we are all flying high based on this winning streak, but just have to keep things in perspective.
We definitely need to keep this game in perspective.  I always thought we'd split with Providence, Marquette and Butler.  Less so of winning at least one against Nova, UConn, Xavier and Creighton. So our wins against Nova and UConn are a bonus this season as far as I'm concerned.  But perhaps the team is advancing more than I originally thought--particularly the elevated play of Posh and Wusu and now expected contributions from Cole and Moore--that the team can finish above .500 in conference play.

A lot of people are talking about potential match-up problems for us, and rightly so.  What about the match-up problems for the Friarswhen it comes to handling us?

Where'd all the providence fans go from the Friar Talk message board?  Zero talk about the game over there.  They have a more active board?

I wasn't even alive lol.
If we win this, would we be in the voting section of the Top25?

While it would improve the NET ranking from the current 67, it might be enough for a vote or two for the top-25.  Not likely though.  I think more likely if we get a few games over .500 in the conference.

Providence Jimmy Nichols is out.  A hit to their depth. Nichols Providence's 4th leading scorer.also a good FT shooter and high percentage 3-pt shooter.

Don't like tht this game is in their smallish on campus Alumni/Mullaney.

it's like us getting Nova at Alumni/Carnesecca.

Advantage Friars.

Not that we play well at the Dunk, but they have to be very familiar with the rim and the floor at their home gym.

Having said that, I'm rooting like hell to win because of Cooley's

1. yelling at Mullin.

2. St. Johns' put-downs over the year and

3. recent screed about his guy over Posh for frosh of the week ("Stevie Wonder" reference and all; jerk).

If someone else made a reference to Stevie Wonder's disability, they would be blasted for it.
