I really want Simon to step up and guard the other teams best offensive player (like he did to Howard) every game and not switch off of him. He is quick enough to stay in front of just about anyone in the big east, and tall/long enough to give them problems. Defense is about desire, and I believe Simon could be an elite defender if he wants to be.
Attendance has noticeably been a lot better and this includes during some successful Lavin years. I remember thinking it would be impressive if we could get 10k or more and we got over 18k for G'Town who isn't even back to being truly relevant yet. PC is usually a weaker draw, but to hear 16k sold that's insane. I wonder how much more money we're bringing in from ticket sales to this point this year vs. a few years ago. I usually go out of Ronk or Babylon to the Garden but I've recently driven out to Hicksville since every line runs through there. Seeing more and more SJ gear which is fun to see. I asked a guy in Hicksville where he got his jacket with really nice sewn on logos and all. He called his wife on the spot and he told me "Costco!". Who knew they sold our stuff?!
To be fair the school is dumping tickets on stubhub that count as tickets sold. If you go on the site you will see rows and rows of 20 tickets available. 22hrs prior to game there is about 3,200 tickets available on stubhub.
This post is a hybrid between this topic (Providence pre-game) and NET rankings. In short, pretty crazy in my view that Providence (with NET rank of 85) counts as a Quad 3 game. At least according to these metrics, not much upside — almost an expected win, but would be a somewhat “bad loss.”

This may not be the best year for the Big East, but it still is an extremely competitive conference, top to bottom.
It would be a bad loss by every metric because of Providence's ranking and because it's a home game for us. With regard to the rankings , the only games that would not hurt us as far as losses are concerned are the home game against Villanova and we can afford to lose one of the remaining three road games. Other than that every game is a must win. If we lose one of our home games other than Villanova then we either have to beat Villanova at home or sweep our remaining road games in order to not be hurt in the rankings

Luv this article by Adam Zagoria.
To paraphrase Coach K: The St. John’s brand is spectacular...it hasn’t been much...lately...but it’s still there.
And luv Zagoria’s comment that our brand will continue to flourish IF we win some big games in the next few weeks.
That’s gospel guys, gospel.
Let’s do it.
6-2, 2-1...25-9 on Selection Sunday.

I gave away my tickets to this game because I didn’t think I could go. I may be able to so I am thinking of buying a single ticket on StubHub. To the 104 crew what rows are you in?

I have an extra courtside ticket if you want to sit with me.

Please PM me if you do

Simon should be guarding Diallo, Friars best player. This kid can drive, shoot threes and rebound on both ends of the court. Reeves has returned but has been rusty. Watson has been their best big man and can put Clark in foul trouble, while Duke can get hot shooting the three pointer. I have watched several of their games, hopefully they continue to go periods without scoring. Got to show we can win on our homecourt, MSG,.

Well said, Marvin.
One game at a time, but let’s take care of business.
7.5 point favorite
Not much respect from the oddsmakers considering our two BE road wins and pc's struggles of late.

I agree. Thought this would be closer to 10.

Providence always plays us tough. Not a betting man anymore (other than on the horses) but I wouldn't want to be giving more than 7 1/2 points if I was. Just win guys!
