If we don't win this one, then there is probably no other game left on the schedule that I can pick us to win. Not that we would go winless the rest of the way, there just is no other game I can look at and say, "boy, I really like us in that one."

I will be there Saturday, I plan on losing my voice supporting this team. It wont be easy, nothing at St John's is. But I refuse to give up on this group of players.

This team is struggling confidence wise and tonight due that they struggled with their effort defensively for the first time this season. That’s why Roberts and Champagnie were taken out of the game because CMA didn’t think they were playing hard enough. That can’t happen Saturday. Regardless of offensive struggles and lack of confidence, they have to bring it defensively the way they have been all season and they will have a chance no matter what. If they don’t , it will be another blowout.

I'd love to know how Mike will handle the trouncing by Georgetown.

Chewing butt and cracking the whip isn't automatically the answer. It depends on the team's effort and desire to win. A player's confidence and enthusiasm can be nurtured or crushed by a coach.

Knowing when to offer encouragement and when to discipline is a hard decision for any coach. Do you discipline the entire team or a few underperforming players?

The teams morale and confidence will be a significant factor in how the team performs against DePaul.

You play the players that deserve to play. Dunn and Earlington should be in the starting lineup. And id put steere in to see what he has. Changes need to be made as this offense in inept and putting the same starting 5 out there again would be awful.

Not the entire team, but I would Roberts and Champ. Bench them until the under 12minute time, replace them with Earl and Sears.

My coach made the team ran laps up and down the bleacher steps.
I still remember that burning in my legs. :eek:hmy:

We certainly were motivated to play harder in the next game. B)

But, running laps is no substitute for talent and athletic ability.

MSG going to be an embarrassing ghost town. I agree with everyone saying fan support especially student support is terrible, however I'm sure many fans anticipated this fall from grace. When's the last time we had a team that dominated all year in the top 25 all year and made at least the Sweet 16? Because that's what it would take to seriously get fans out in droves. Many fans were just starting to take notice, but that's gone...now they will be at home. This 3 game stretch is also why the coaches and AP voters never ranked us. They knew this was coming. Things are pretty bleak when we can't compete in the Big East and PC, SHU, and now even freaking Rutgers have passed us by. As much as I hated the Lavin era, it seems like forever ago we were above .500 in Big East play. And even then our peak was 10-8. That's our high water mark. I really hope we got this hire right, because it's really starting to seem like we cannot wake up permanently as a program if trends continue.

It will take several successful seasons to rebuild the Johnnies fan base.

I think Mike Anderson is the right coach to do it. I see him building a solid program that will attract fans.

Mike is 60. I think he will coach at least another 7 years and then retire. Plenty of time to get the Johnnies reestablished in the BE and with MSG full of excited fans.

Rutgers is legit. They are a real threat in the Big 10. its crazy to think Rutgers has better players then us. How did that happen?

I think the fans will come back quicker then some think if we start winning. I was at the new years eve vs butler and it was a great atmosphere. If we were 2-1 in the Big East I believe the garden would have been packed on Sat.

Big Ten money, state money, and a good coach in Steve Pikell. But, let's also keep in mind that it's year 4 for him, there. He didn't turn it around overnight.

Asked about benching, Josh Roberts and Julian Champagnie, Mike Andersons says "guys have to compete for minutes," meaning nothing is guaranteed, even for starters. #sjubb

Mike Anderson says Mustapha Heron is "pressing," but remains a key part of the team. Obviously, still working way back from ankle injury. #sjubb

Anybody planning to take the LIRR Port Jeff branch, be aware that there is work near Mineola. Service ends in Hicksville where you have to take a shuttle to Babylon change and then on to Penn. Travel times will be doubled in some cases.:(

And when he retires, then what? TJ Cleveland takes over, and we go down the tubes again? Not that I think Cleveland would automatically be a bad coach, it's just that, without having been a successful D1 coach before, there will always be that skepticism, unless they do what Temple did last year, where Dunphy and McKie were basically co-head coaches, and it was a year of transition.

Also, I could see Anderson going a lot longer then 7 more years. Boeheim is 75 years old, Coach K is 72, Roy Williams is 69. Leonard Hamilton, 71. Jim Larranaga, 70 (all from the same conference, ironically). None of those guys appear to be going anywhere, anytime soon.

Rutgers is looking good this year, and rightfully so- it's Pikell's 4th year... what preceded this season? 3 losing seasons with 14 and 15 wins. What did he do at Stonybrook? interestingly enough... started with 3 straight losing seasons with single digit wins before breaking through in his 4th. Coaches need time, a couple recruiting cycles, experienced players that understand their philosophy to make it an easier transition for the freshmen...

Look, i hate seeing SJU lose as much as the next guy, and most times need to turn off the TV when they go down more than 10 (which might be a lot this year)... but given his ~15yr track record and what CMA has shown he can do with under-recruited players/transfers... i cant wait to see what the team will look like in year 4. just hope his first losing season EVER... doesnt come at st johns...
