Whip around coverage in NCAA Tourney early round games is one thing, but this tomorrow is nonsense. Tinkering with a good product after a long wait for season to launch is another example of disregarding “if it ain’t broken no need to fix it”adage imo.
I'm sure that the decision to do this was driven by dollars. It almost always is. What baffles me is why would the schools agree to it??

This sucks.  I thought this was going to be televised on FS1.  I cant believe there is nowhere to watch this game in full?

Moose has all the inside info on how to watch the game.

Your first sentence answers your third.

Playing a low div one team is something all schools do.  In football, Ohio State played Akron and Alabama played Mercer in "forlorn hope" games.  MV St isnot only playing us but also Ole Miss and Vandy.  THese games allow lower tier schools to get revenue to support their athletic programs and larger schools to have a respite where they can get in game conditions.  Seton Hall is playing Nyack College.  Kansas is playing Tarlton.  Indiana is playing Jackson State (another SWAC school).  Gtown playing Longwood. UConn play Grambling (another SWAC team, that MV St beat last year).  I could go on ad infinitum--the point is all schools do it, NOT just St. Johns so I don't think criticism is warrented as to scheduling MV St. IMHO.

Take every single Division 1 team and put it in a hat. You could pick any one of them other than Mississippi Valley State, and it would be a better game. Every team plays cupcakes but not all cupcakes are the worst team in D1 with no geographical ties.
I mean is there really a difference in playing the 325th team and the 347th team, the skill level difference is marginal, both are Q4 games as far as your resume is concerned, most teams play cupcakes like this their first game, especially teams with a completely new roster.  Arkansas played these guys last year for their first game and went to the elite 8, maybe the Johnnies can continue that trend :)

In the first game of the season, most people want to see "their" team play. The broadcasts should have been regionalized so that each section of the country could see their home team in action. This whip around BS is just that - PURE BS!!!!

On the red storm sports schedule page (see first post in this thread) there is a “watch” link for the game so maybe it is being streamed

Yes, I'm sure they are all streaming in their entirety on Foxsports.com.

Yea, I think theres a difference when it’s dead last out 357 schools but that wasn’t really the point, plus were probably already playing the 325 best team ;)

There’s a great chance St. John’s is gonna be fighting off the “who have They beaten?” crowd this season. Pointing out to dead last Mississippi valley state as the team we chose to play first won’t help our cause. No rule that says you need to start your season with a quad 4 opponent, especially one with no regional ties to your program. Arkansas and Mississippi boarder each-other. Notice I didnt complain about playing St. Peter’s. That’s the point, there’s enough crappy opponents in the tri state area who aren’t ranked at the very bottom of the list. Better yet, get a non quad 4 game with a northeast school.

I checked the list of games being streamed tonight on the Fox Sports app. Lots and lots of games are listed but, unless my eyes are deceiving me, the St John's game is NOT among them. UGH!!!!!!!!

With FS1 and FS2 they could have easily spread out the games and got full coverage. I’m thinking they were worried of blowouts and this way they could jump to a game or 2 if it’s competitive.

I don’t think the BE or college ball in general has that type of draw though. I think most fans would rather watch their team win by 25 on opening night than see another high major battle off a low major.

Easy there Amase or, speaking of "crowds", you'll wind up getting attacked by the "the staff knows what they're doing, how dare you question their wisdom on this(or anything)!" crowd. /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

I don’t see the SJU game listed anywhere on ANY Fox app…. I’m starting to think this game is not on tv or streamable from anywhere…. Which makes me VERY angry.

Exactly right Mase. I'm not interested in watching another Big East team run the score up on a cupcake. The only game of that type that would interest me is to see MY team (St John's) do it.

Looks like I'll be watching Duke-Kentucky and Kansas-Michigan State. I'll tape FS1 and fast forward to the pieces of the St John's game that are shown.

Bad job by the Big East and Fox Sports regarding tonight's coverage!!!! I'd rather watch the full St John's game than anything else that's on the air tonight. But, unfortunately, that's not an option because of poor decisions made by people who are way beyond my pay grade.

Look since team has so many new players I am find with them  playing MVS so long as we do not lose and beat them to make a statement we could have been bold and played Kansas first lol

For the TV crowd, I'm not defending Fox's approach but I'm assuming they did not send announcing crews to all of these arenas and cut some costs? If it isn't a night of voiceover from the studio hosts I totally don't understand what they did.

And if you live in the area and want to see the entire game come join us at Carnesecca. I guarantee you there are good seats available at a reasonable price.

Good point. And I’m sure it’s all about money. But if you’re right and it’s voice over from the studio I doubt there will be any option to stream it in it’s entirety through the app.

Redstormsports.com has already said the full coverage will be on the foxsports app.  Honestly the foxsports site/app is not the most user friendly, my guess is you'll see the live link available to stream right around game time.

https://redstormsports.com/new...2021-22-against-mississippi-valley-state.aspx

"Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. with Dan Hellie and Casey Jacobsen on the call.  The game will be part of BIG EAST Opening Night Tip-Off, as FS1 will provide whip-around coverage of seven BIG EAST non-conference games beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Fans can watch the St. John's contest in its entirety on the https://www.foxsports.com/mobile]FOX Sports app. "

St. John's sports web site, Red Storm Sports, says the game can be seen its entirety on th Fox Sports app which currently has a link to games commencing at various times until 7PM.  I will trust that site to update to games commencing after 7PM as the eveving goes on and will check it out.  There list contains at least a dozen games starting between 3PM and 5PM which will be over before our game time.  Per Fox Sports app Nova/MSM starts in 3 hours 48 minutes and counting down.
