I'll be at the game along with a fellow SJU alum and my daughter who's a current student at IU (though she'll be wearing SJU gear like us). Anybody else going?

I’ll be there

Zach B’s “kiss of death” predictions

Gavitt Tipoff Games start tonight. Predictions:
Illinois over Marquette, Wisconsin over Providence, Creighton over Nebraska, Michigan over Seton Hall, St. John's over Indiana, Butler over Michigan State, Rutgers over DePaul. Xavier over Ohio State.

Mean Gene's analysis can be extended to a real dilemma, the better the players you get the higher the likelihood of them leaving early, the lower the likelihood of 40 minutes of hell defensive culture being taught by example, and that defense may be harder to learn than others.

Hope to see more of Nyiwe

The only way that happens is if Soriano and Wheeler are in foul trouble and that means that IU is killing us inside.

IU has two very good big forwards including one first team All American who will be a massive handful for us inside.  I think we will need time for all of our big guys including Nywie.  Nywie is 6’11 with the mobility to defend these guys so I expect he will get some time and fouls this upcoming game.  Soriano is better as an offensive player than he is defensively right now.  We will have to make IU try to jack up shots and beat us from the outside to give us the best chance of winning.  Luckily we have quite a few big guys this year entering this game.

We win by 14, and Wusu and Mathis help harass their star big man into half his season averages.

Wheeler our best shot by far IMO. I believe JD just too quick for Soriano(hope to be proven wrong) and he will absolutely destroy Nyiwe(doubt I'll be proven wrong). Like you, I'd be shocked to see Nyiwe on the court unless we are in serious foul trouble and/or unless the game is out of reach.

Andy Katz has Indiana at 30 in his top 36.  We are not on the list.  Its time to get some repesct.

We went out west and beat Arizona a few years back.  And this team is much better then that team.  We will win this game.

Agree,we have to play good teams sometime.talent and coaching wins games ,let’s see how we do.If we lose there are questions to be answered and hopefully solutions . This type of game will be what is expected in the BE. If we are not winning most then it’s back to the drawing board

The only way Nywie is 6'11" is if he's standing on a platform that's 3 inches high./media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

I haven’t seen him listed less than 6’10’-6’11” anywhere.  He’s def not 6’8”… he’s a big kid.

Check out the team photo in the media guide.  He's standing next to Wheeler who's taller, and at least 3" shorter than Soriano.

I just looked at it, but can’t go by photos.  He’s slouching there and those photos are notoriously poor for judging heights of players.
