Our first Barometer game. Don't know if we'll win but it will be encouraging to see them stay competitive and possibly get the W.

They don't seem to shoot the 3 well.
So I can't wait for them to light it up and posters to go crazy. :woohoo:

They've made the tourney two out of the past three years, playing the 13-4 game both times, and lost by 10 and 13 points.

Their current coach, Becker, has a record there of 166-77.

We will see.

This would be a good game for redmen.com fans without season tickets to buy game tickets for. Saturday afternoon 4 pm start doesn't mess up evening plans.

There have been a ton of season ticket cancellations. General murmurs are we should have waited a year to implement the mandatory donation, but there have even been a lot of cancellations in seats that did not require a donation and which only had a 5% increase over prior years.

Have won two squeakers over (0-3) Bonnies and (1-1) Bucknell. Both wins were on the road. Play at home tonight against Boston U.

Absolutely wrong time to increase prices that much after laying off SJU’s golden boy, new coaching hire and a team picked near last in the Big East. I know SJU needs to make more money to support the program, but not right away after such a huge change. It should have been a bit more gradual.

John Becker, a Fairfield, Ct native, is a highly respected coach with a solid HC record. I believe we prevail, but expect Becker to have his squad well prepared.

In the same manner they ask the fans to be patient with the development of the team, they should be patient in raising their prices

The one thing I would say in defense the increases is that there is such a long laundry list of necessary improvements to facilities that all cost a lot of money, and the fact that our ticket prices were below other Big East schools in smaller markets, that the decision was made to raise prices based on those factors.

The equipment room and athlete weight rooms were in spaces that looked like a 60 year old unfinished basement (dungeon), as well as many other initiatives. It's impossible to take a recruit into those areas and get a kid to come here. The practice facility is first class. I think they just misjudged in a down year how loyal our season ticket holders would be to increases. Definitely a mistake but we should recover as the team improves.

Messed up my evening plans. Had to sell my ticket to Elton John at the Coliseum on saturday night, to be able to attend this (I have him at MSG in April, so no big loss). Had it been earlier in the day, I could have done both.
Guessing you did okay on the after market sale of those.
Didn't go on the open market. The person I was going to go to the show with (a relative), found someone to take the other ticket for face value, and I didn't want to shaft her (I was actually prepared to take a slight loss, but if she couldn't find someone, then I would have gone with Stubhub).

I did, however, pay less, for MSG in April, then I did for Saturday's show (cheaper seats), so I consider that making money, in a way.

I think you told me that earlier, this year.

I've seen him 8 times, so I know exactly what to expect.

My two "gold" tickets went up from $1,343 to $2,265 from last season to this season. However I have received no additional benefits. I did not receive an e-mail about the open practice or the tip off practice. My seats at CA which I like weren't moved down nor were my seats at MSG (which I asked about). In fact I was moved further from the end to the middle without asking if this was a preference. I have not been offered to buy additional seats at season ticket holder prices. I have not been notified about how to buy tickets to the Mohegan Sun tournament. I have not received the opportunity to buy seats for the Elite Eight at MSG which I was a couple of years ago. There is the usual season ticket gift which I don't even feel like taking because it is of no value. I never received an e-mail letting me know that it is available. It would be nice to receive a letter explaining what the future plans for upgrades are and how much money is needed. I might even decide to donate a little more. In the end I am enjoying the games but this is becoming an expensive hobby without any communication from the program.

The mandatory donation for no benefit is a little much in my opinion. As any Alum knows the “Can we Count on You” envelope just arrived. I don’t know I try to give as much as I can every year but then you hear the word “mandatory”. Little bit of a turnoff if you ask me. I understand the needs but as I told my son when I was paying his way through Penn State the money tree I have out back has its limits.

Gotta love how the Vermont pre-game thread consists primarily of:

1. Complaints about season ticket prices
2. Elton John ticket resale prices.

I'm pretty sure we have/had a thread for the former. I guess we could start one for the latter.

Anyway, I think Vermont is going to be a good early barometer for our group. I haven't seen a line yet but it should probably be a pick 'em or a couple of points one way or the other. Hope our " fans" manage to buy a ticket (either at the box office, resale, or otherwise) to show up and support the team.

I'm thinking a line will be higher than that. I'm going to say a touchdown.

Basically exactly the same. I could list ten things they are still doing wrong but I’m sure people are tired of reading it from me. The increase was bad, the customer service continues to be horrendous. Attendance is going to be abysmal. If anyone in the administration is surprised they are either dumb or not engaged enough with how season ticket holders (other than large donors) are treated.

Speaking of that, I was pretty shocked when I saw that ESPN likes us to lose this game outright.

They give them a 51% chance to win. What goes into deciding that? Surely it can’t be Vegas cause I don’t think there’s anyway we are dogs at home
