And this all of a sudden becomes a critical game.
Cannot, no freaking way go 0-3.
And please don't give that ooh but it's only the 3rd b.e.game of the season.

This is a must win. Time to get the duke in the starting lineup. Hes earned it. Let Champaignie come off the bench the rest of the season. Maybe it will spark him but at this point, earlington is clearly better.

I just dont want to see him shoot 3's ( not sure if he did today but he had a real good game ) and I dont want him left with the ball up top with no help

He was 0-1 from 3, and I think that came at the end of the shot clock.

If they don't win this or DePaul, then I don't see where the next victory is coming from. That doesn't mean they will go winless in the Big East, there just won't be a game left that I can pick them to win.

If they can get either one of them, and especially if they can get both (which is the goal), maybe confidence can be built from that.

This should be an exciting and hard fought game
St John's and Georgetown are both 0-2 in the Big East
Both teams will be hungry for the win
I like Duke's energy off the bench as a spark for the second team
Sometimes it's not about who is better - it's about chemistry
I would leave the lineup as is for now

Who cares who starts under this regime. Effort and performance count and are rewarded with pt. Marcellus played well yesterday , probably better than any other SJU player and had 12 and 6 in 22 minutes of play. Clearly he would have played more had he not been in foul trouble. He alone limited his minutes not CMA who was happy to grant him all the pt he could.

It does matter who starts. We cant keep playing from behind all game. Duke is putting the ball in the hoop. Get him in there from the tip and lets play from ahead for once in conference play.

And maybe Champiagnie could use a change as right now, he isnt providing much.

I hope they can get shooting better but I understand what members of the board are saying we have been down the o for w road before but looking at our offensive and field goal shooting and the fact that steere thus far has been a dud sad but there is the possibility we
Only win 4-5/games in confr
Unless they can put it together but we’re will the wins come from

I know that basically everyone took a wait and see approach to this season as did I in the beginning. We all said , let’s see how this team is playing in February and March. In my humble opinion, the wins over West Virginia abs Arizona changes that. We know that they can win at this level despite our shooting woes. I still think we are a better shooting team than what we showed against Xavier. This team is at a crossroads now, never mind February and March. The wins over two Top 25 teams changed everything. Expectations changed. Our SOS is good and our NET is good. If we can put together a 9-9 conference record we can possibly make the NCAA tournament. This is the crossroads after starting 0-2. These next three Very winnable games will tell us if we will be a factor in the conference and in the NCAA conversation or if we will fade into oblivion as has been the case most years. The time is now for this team.

I think we can wear down Georgetown with our style. They only play and have 7 scholarship players. I think we can pull away at the end.

Winnable game, not a lock obviously, but advantage to team with more depth who also can sap roster depleted GT via pressure.

I see this as a pivotal moment for the Johnnies season. It's easy to develop a losing mentality. They need a win to keep up confidence. A loss at Georgetown would be 3 in a row in the BE.

The Johnnies are already a terrible shooting team. It'll get worse if they completely lose confidence in themselves.

Georgetown is a must win.

As usual I appreciate the posts and realize most posters know more about the ins and outs of college basketball and this SJU team. And I tend to be optimistic. HOWEVER. HOWEVER.

Here's my humble take.

CMA did the best he could putting together a last minute batch of available players, using the returning and untested bench players admirably and suffering with his two stars under-achieving.

Hence, I really don't know if this is a "must win" or if we can wear anybody down.
And I surely am not counting on a W - we are only an okay team in a league with "better than okay" teams.
AND this is a road game.
All the best.

GO St. Johns!

BPI doesn't like us at all in this game. As of right now, they are only giving us a 30.3% chance of victory.

They do like us to beat DePaul on Saturday though. In fact, it's almost a complete 180 degree turn. 70.6% chance of victory, as of today.

Sounds like they are over factoring in home court and not what is really going on with these teams. Gtown is not playing. Gtown is going to be gassed trying to deal with us. I think we matchup very well with Gtown. I am expecting a win.

Because of their depleted roster Georgetown is the perfect opponent for SJU. In addition to utilizing a pressure defense for the whole game SJU should adandon some of their three point attempts which have not been falling to taking the ball to the rim more often.
Georgetown will be playing to avoid getting into foul trouble which might create some easy penetration baskets.

The Hoyas commit a turnover on 20.2% of their possessions so far this season. That, with a short bench does create an opportunity to wear them down both mentally and physically. As some have mentioned, it may not be a bad idea to force the issue on drives (within reason) to see if you can induce ole' defense or foul trouble.

We will likely be about a 5 point dog, but I think this is really good opportunity to steal one.
