DePaul always has some decent talent and they're better than last year. Javon Freeman-Liberty is real good. They have depth and experience. While they're still in the bottom 4 tier of the BE along with gtown, butler and sju, they're not necessarily destined for last place.
upon further reflection, I am not sure what are the tiers in the BE. I think that PC, Marquette and Xavier are not appreciably, if at all, better than G'town, Butler, SJU and DePaul. I'm not sure yet if this is one of the better Nova teams. Creighton impresses me. And I have no idea yet about UConn. While teams regularly beat each other up in this league, being close to .500 in conference play and/or advancing to semi's in the BE tournament can get you an NCAA bid.
I wish SJU could pick up a local non-conf game tomorrow or Wednesday, as I don't want them to be rusty on Saturday.
I think the Big East is much deeper then it was last season. Not as strong at the top (no one looks as good as Nova, Creighton, and the Hall were last year), but the mid-level teams appear to have less weak spots.
