Any the two transfers from Nassau County Long whose names were floated this off-season with St. John's too.

Ray Salnave - started, 31 min, 4 pt, 6 reb, 3 ast

Pauly Paulicap - 17 min, 5 pt, 6 reb

Ray Salnave's stats are exactly what I thought they would be at this level, exceptionally mediocre. Thank g d we did not take him. Would rather go with freshman Wusu or Dunn any day of the week. He would have only created a log jam where none needed to exist.

He played  one game.  Give him time.
Give him time for what? Wusu is already a better player.

DePaul always has some decent talent and they're better than last year.  Javon Freeman-Liberty is real good.   They have depth and experience.   While they're still in the bottom 4 tier of the BE along with gtown, butler and sju, they're not necessarily destined for last place.

upon further reflection, I am not sure what are the tiers in the BE.  I think that PC, Marquette and Xavier are not appreciably, if at all, better than G'town, Butler, SJU and DePaul.  I'm not sure yet if this is one of the better Nova teams.  Creighton impresses me.  And I have no idea yet about UConn.  While teams regularly beat each other up in this league, being close to .500 in conference play and/or advancing to semi's in the BE tournament can get you an NCAA bid.

I wish SJU could pick up a local non-conf game tomorrow or Wednesday, as I don't want them to be rusty on Saturday.

Told St. John's has gone through a few rounds of testing without any positives since returning to campus. Team will be back today working out. #sjubb

The St. John's women's pause has to do with a staff member, not a player, and team hasn't been back in facility in a while so not a lot of concern it would impact men's team, I'm told. #sjubb

They took PC to double OT, so not an easy game by any means; not that I thought any would be this year.

I think the Big East is much deeper then it was last season.  Not as strong at the top (no one looks as good as Nova, Creighton, and the Hall were last year), but the mid-level teams appear to have less weak spots.

St. John's Mike Anderson tells me John McGriff (ankle) will be available Saturday. Had been out before this 13-day layoff. #sjubb. Everyone else good to go as well. No injuries.

Can't see him getting much burn.

Looking forward to a track meet tomorrow.  DePaul seems to want to run as much as we do.  Will not be an east game,  DePaul much improved.

as an aside the two New Yorkers,  Salnave and Paulycap have not really made much of an impression so far.  Glad we passed on them.

If the numbers somehow stayed the same, I would say that Paulicap has given them more than I expected. I thought Salnave could be an 8 ppg scorer in the Big East. Clearly not looking so hot right now. Also glad we passed, although I want to see them both do well since this may be the first time in D-1 history that two Elmont guys are on the same team.

Kenpom gives StJohn's a 59% chance of winning today.

StJohn's  81
DePaul 78

lets hope.

I saw most of Depaul's first two BE games and they won't be easy. They play a good, seasoned point in Moore and various wings, including two good ones in Weems & Freeman-Liberty. Down low they play one of two active shot blockers in Ongenda & Paulicap. Assuming Depaul plays man, would like to see Moore look for that foul line jumper he can hit early to draw the big out and open up the lane for guys like Posh, Williams & Champ.
This is a game we've got to get, should be well rested and ready to get after it. Let's go guys!

I realize the kids and coaches needed a well earned break, but this long layoff concerned me. Hopefully we come out rearing to go and sustain it all game.

Very excited we r back in action today.  It is a must win as we are heading out on the road after this game.

i am hoping we continue to play d like we did in our last game.  No more pressing and trapping which wasnt working and leaving teams wide open for 3.  Just drop back and play half court man to man d.

Agree on Salnave.  However, Paulicap is a BE contributor.  He would have helped us.

Game cancelled today Brandon Tierney just announced on Twitter.

Not surprised.  Too many people decided to disregard recommendations over the holidays.  January is going to feature a lot of postponed games.  It was only a matter of time before our program was impacted.
