Still have my student ID even if it is about 45 years old. Think it will work? i'll say I'm in night school.;) :)

2. Butler and St. John’s surprised us. They were picked to rank 8th and 9th – they’re now 2nd and 3rd. For the Butler Bulldogs if their 11-1 start is any indication of what BIG EAST play will bring them this year, the Bulldogs fans are in for a treat. Butler’s impressive resume features dominant wins over Purdue, Florida, Ole Miss, and Missouri. BIG EAST fans know the name Kamar Baldwin – mostly because he’s probably carved apart their team over the past three years, but also because he is also establishing himself as one of the best players in the nation, and a potential NBA prospect. But it’s not all about Baldwin, according to head coach LaVall Jordan: “Nobody cares who scores. We talk about moving the basketball and hitting the open man. They look for each other, share the ball and stay connected.”

Similarly, the St. John’s Red Storm couldn’t find any success under Chris Mullin, so they went back to the drawing board and snatched up former Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson. The tough-lovin’ New York media & Red Storm fans ripped this decision apart, but after an 11-2 beginning to the season, we’ve learned that Anderson is certainly looking like the right man for the job. The Johnnies are already displaying that they’re the deepest team in the BIG EAST – 8 of the 11 players that have appeared for the Johnnies this year have played more than 40% of their possible minutes in each game; essentially, Mike Anderson is squeezing all that he can out of the Johnnies. Watch out for sophomore forward Josh Roberts, LJ Figueroa and senior combo-player Mustapha Heron to cause a problem for BIG EAST opponents down the stretch.

The student section is not very big. Hope they know what they are doing.

One thing I think would be extremely helpful is getting consistent first/second team All Big East play from Heron and Figueroa. It’s astounding that the team has played as well as it has without their two studs playing like studs in most games this year. If those two can get going, it would really help.
You have a point . If you would have said before the season started that we would beat Arizona w/o Heron playing, we would have called you crazy.
Kill me if you want for saying this but it's how i see it.
Heron has been avg at best. That could change in B.E. play, but as of right now he has been avg.
Hoping he turns into a star real soon.
Agreed. After his play in the play in game last year and his play this year against good teams, I think we know what we have in Heron. A good player but not a superstar in the big east.

The good news is that we have proved we dont need him to win. Hes a nice piece but if he is having an off night, no big deal. We can still get it done.
I beg to differ, we do need Heron. He's capable of hitting double figures while most of our subs are not. Always nice to have experience out there. Heron has been off no doubt but still can hit the big shot under pressure.

I truly appreciate the effort on the part of the marketing department to put asses in the seats for the Butler game and create a home court advantage. The players should not have to suffer because of the mistakes of the athletic/marketing department.

No need for asses. I'd settle for dogs in those seats.

There are still plenty of sats in the $20.20 section and many other locations. Hopefully they will get some loud high school students.

Derrick Smits will be a real solid challenge for our short but tough front court.

Smits averages 2 points and 9 minutes per game. This is not Rik Smits...

For those (I know it's only a few) who are dismissing Heron as someone we don't need to be successful, I would add another point.

Heron is a player that can score efficiently at all three levels (at the basket, mid range and three). This is extremely valuable. Other than Mustapha, I would say only LJ, Dunn and Champagnie are three level scorers with Heron and LJ being the most polished.

Yes, he's been off lately, but I predict he will have some strong games for us. Good kid and a team leader. Hang in there with him.

The only thing sillier than Joe Lunardi’s December bracketology is the idea that we don’t need Heron.

I just said that he's been avg so far (which isn't bs), also said hopefully he turns into a star real soon, because obviously we will need him. Heron and LJ are the most experience players here.

Heron & Figgy are exactly the kind of good all around players and leaders any team needs. We are well served with those two as our main guys. People forget how much Heron was expected to do on the defensive end last year, covering much bigger and stronger players which he did w/o complaint and often effectively. He is a very tough hard nosed player whose value is not limited to scoring. We absolutely need him to be a good team in the BE.

Lol ok. You see their game today?

Baldwin was 1/11 today & off last game as well if I recall correctly. In “Johnny World” is that a good thing or mean he will torch us? :)

Go Johnnies!
Heron is essential to the success of this team moving forward.
Smart man

Thompson is their swiss army knife, much like Simon was for us last year. Leads the team in minutes played (34), 8 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 block pg and a tough defender. Would love to see us get a couple of early fouls on him and make him sit.

Level of competition was dreadful. Need to see him versus a team that can provide a challenge. While he was "scoring at will" he also had 3 T/O's and only 1 Rebound in 13 minutes. Always helps being 7'1" but over 3 years at Valpo most he averaged was 12 points and 1 block.
