Potential Grad Transfers

Per Rothstein-
Illinois grad transfer Michael Finke tells me he will visit Vanderbilt next week after his Penn State visit this weekend. Stanford, Nevada, and Grand Canyon.

Hard to compete for bigs when your lead recruiter tells him developing big men is his specialty.

Austin Reaves transferring from Wichita is a significant blow to a Shockers team that will be in rebuilding mode next season. Will be interesting to see where he lands.

We're all very proud of the work Malik's done academically & athletically and we wish him the best in his next chapter! https://t.co/WCZgk2LUgu[/quote]

Yes, please.

Can someone summarize all the transfer big men we are pursuing and who has or will visit. Only bigs please as we don't give a flying duck about guards who are a dime a dozen on the transfer market.

Looking like we'll have 3 'open' as of today. 1 guard (EW), 1 wing (LJF please), 1 'big'??? Do we dare hope?

Looking through Verbal Commits this is pretty much the best of the grad big guys left at the moment. Hines and Lewis are clearly a cut above the rest. I attempted to rank them based on their numbers and level of competition.

1. Malik Hines 6'9" 240 UMass
2. Abdul Lewis 6'10" 225 NJIT
3. Tory Miller Stewart 6'9" 246 Colorado
4. Daouda Ndiaye 7'0" 215 Illinois St.
5. Ibrahim Sylla 6'8" 220 N.Colorado
6. Quadri Moore 6'8" 230 Cincinnati
7. Darius Bolstad 6'8" 240 Radford
8. Josh Martin 6'8" 225 Cal Poly
9. Casey Schlatter 6'10 220 Drake
10. Devenir Duruisseau 6'8" 225 Washington
11. Kerwin Smith 6'9" 220 Grand Canyon
12. Brodricks Jones 6'10" 210 Wyoming

Also bear in mind there are still guys out there on the fence re: staying or going grad transfer route. Obviously getting late though.

Obviously would want the best grad transfer big available but would settle for just about anyone if we have too. Grad transfer does not waste a schollie as it opens one up again for the next class. Simply no excuse for not being able to convince one of them to sign on (don't want to hear PT or usage-we have one that's one big and a supposed not ready for prime time frosh on the roster).

this is leading to be ANOTHER year where the staff states they are "comfortable" with our team right now, then when the season starts....injuries, foul trouble, TRANSFERS, they will state "We are thin upfront". Ya think?????? Same song every year. Enough excuses, enough of the revolving door. There seems to be an underlining problem here. What is the staffs take on a leader in the NCAA, a leader in transfers! Am I the only one getting to the boiling point? Yes, we have quality players coming in, but wait and see my friends....more drama to follow.

Thanks much for the effort, Dan V.
I agree about Hines and Abdul being clearly better than the others.
Ideally, I prefer Lewis. The guy seems to eat rebounds, 5.6 DREBs/game last year., but, no doubt, I'd be ecstatic getting Hines.
Dunno, but wonder how far down the list becomes an 'eh'?

just from looking at the stats id take Lewis first. Horrible shooting game vs Iona but did dominate the glass that game

At this point, either of these guys would be icing on the cake, that imo would get us to a very solid 7+ deep rotation, further enhanced by Trimble/Williams providing depth at guard, and Roberts/Earlington spot duty at the 4/5
If it all played out, we'd be a very exciting and dangerous team..
