(POST GAME) @Xavier, Wed., Jan. 6, 8p, CBS SN / 970AM

My tolerance for losing teams is pretty high, but it is utterly painful to watch this once proud program continue its decline into obscurity.

This team of limited talent looked uninspired and disinterested tonight.  Xavier was horrible and they still beat us easily.  We will compete with DePaul and Georgetown for last place yet again.  And if we're being honest, the future is bleak.

And if I see a post blaming our performance on the layoff, I'm going to lose it!  We were lucky the game was as close as it was.

IMO, this game was lost on stubbornly staying in man defense when going zone would've better sufficed.

Xavier shot less than 38% from the field.  Shot nearly 62% from the FT line and was 0'fer from the 3-point line (0-12).

We are going to finish at least 4 games under .500. We are the worst team in the Big East. Mike Anderson's precious streak is going to end and he'll be a sub .500 coach over a three year span. How much more of this guy to we have to watch?

I apologize if this has already been brought up, but Roberts hurt tonight?  For him to get not playing time tonight seems odd?

It's going to be a brutally long season. This year life is short wave to your family ( don't hung ) forget about this train wreck of a year at least we all have each other to lean on

Agree w/ Boo, that whatever Anderson says post game, just save any comments about the impact of the long layoff.

Team just lost and is missing too many pieces.

Zone wouldn't have helped. Xavier would've murdered SJU on boards even more than they do.

Maybe it wouldn't have; maybe it would've.  I would've taken my chances.

It sure as hell would've stopped the forays to the basket and FT line.

Not sure why Roberts has been out of rotation all year especially given our lack of height.  Gives us energy, athleticism but clearly CMA feels otherwise.

didn't watch game
thanks for all of the above posts
for those ( most? ) of us who enjoy St.John's basketball as a pleasant diversion from " real life "
not exactly turning out that way.
The losing and bickering gets old for sure.
Hope the team the young players hang in there and like last season maybe  maybe maybe they can play better. Who knows  -  two words:
frustrating  and disappointing
all the best
SS & G

So up 50-46, x goes on a 17-1 run lol oh well, typical sju. Same crap, different season.
1-5 after Saturday, I'll be very surprised if cma streak doesn't come to an end this year.

I'm going to bring this up yet again.....can someone please explain to me why Earlington gets so much playing time?  I just don't see it. What does he bring to the table that someone else on the roster doesn't?  He just simply isn't talented enough to compete with the Big East.  I'm not trying to be mean towards him, but it't the reality.

He's brutal. He shoots at the worst times. Not only does he not bring anything to the table, he removes things from the table once he gets there.

I think Posh will be a good player but he has significant flaws and it's not a given that he will improve his shooting.  See Pointer, D.; Dunn, R.; and Simon, J.

And don't even get me started on Vince Cole.  It was obvious to me from his first game that he wasn't a Big East player and that was his best game of the year.

I did not expect a win tonight but if there was ever a time to blow out Xavier it was tonight.

Still feel we need a defensive coach next year.  Xavier goes zip with three point shots yet scores easily in the paint. No one stays in front of their man on drives.

Some careless passing and turnovers - Champagnie, Wasu, Cole and Dunn had 3 turnovers.

We made Jones look like a star scoring 16 points while averaging 3 for the season.

Have to be unhappy with our foul shooting.

Moore had a nice game rebounding wise and blocks.

CMA has to concentrate on half court defense.

Agree. He has to get more playing time then Toro, certainly can react much quicker then Toro. Obviously there is no future for Toro but should be for Roberts.

Again not sure what made anyone think this team was anything more than a 5-15/6-14 team.

There just is not a lot of talent especially offensively.
