I'm not convinced any Big man Matt recruits has the offensive skillsets to make a difference in our front line. Maybe he just doesn't have the eye for that type of player. I
Maybe that's just something that's over his head. You get it? Cause he's short.
I don't understand the fans and beat writers being so shocked at Prov beating SJU. Teams 3 to 10 in the BE at very close in talent and it looks like no one will play greater than 500. You have to convert that home court edge to wins.
If any coach should be slammed it is Cooley for being 6 and 9 with his roster . The SJU talent is overrated having no size and no bench.
Dont give us that vs, PC Suxxxxxx 3-9 vs everyone else. Watch the next game, bet you they get f'ing spanked.
Problem is we make the shit teams look like world beaters

Oh man up at 3:45am on the road at 4:45am got to work at 9:25am. That was a rough not pleasant drive. Memo to self stay at marriot courtyard next time. The air in my room at the Omni made Carnesseca upper deck feel like winter
Hope you caught one of the ferries rather than driving all the way around.
Maher doesn't need a ferry.

The roller coaster performances of our team this year has me rope-a-doped.
Following a dramatic win, like against Nova, I'm on top of the world and think we can win most games.
Following lethargic losses like against G*Town in the Garden, or last night's thumping at Providence, I doubt we could beat Puffed Rice High School in Yoknapatawpha County, Mississippi.
Only the shadow knows...

Maybe someone can verify or correct my memory on this .During the season that Nova won the Ncaa against Gtown I think they had a game when Rollie Maz had to bench his starting five because Nova was losing by around 30 points . Anyone remember this ?

It was the last game of the regular season for Villanova at Pitt.
The Panthers led by as many as 34 points. Rollie sat his starting 5.
They would meet again in the first round of the BIg East Tournament, this time with the Wildcats getting revenge.
Our beloved Redmen beat Nova the next night in the semifinals, but of course Villanova went on that historic run to the title.

I believe our Redmen thumped Nova in that BET game.
Ironic that Nova went on their historic run following a big loss to St. John’s.
Just goes to show that you never know.
P.S. We beat Nova 89-74 in that BET game—not by as much as I had thought.

Believe we beat Nova 3 times that year.

Most of last night's game was a bunch of guys standing around the perimeter launching three's or forcing ill advised shots.
It’s been that way for 27 games, its in the playbook. You win some and you lose some
Agree. But, gotta recognize when they are out of control and run something structure designed to get higher % shot and break the vicious cycle.

Unfortunately the offense isn't built that way. In the first half both teams were playing like bad CYO teams but when Cooley would exert his influence they'd calm down and run offense to at least get a good look. This offense STJ runs doesn't have that capability, you have to get your good looks on your own.

Yes, the only team recognized by the NCAA to have beaten the eventual national champ 3 times. Louisville did it to UCONN in 2014, but those victories were vacated by the NCAA (for whatever that's worth, which is not a lot if ask me).

Yup, we had Nova’s # that year—as G*town did ours—unfortunately.
I still replay that Final Four game wearily in my brain.
And that’s very unfortunate!

Me too, Chicago ... but in my dream , Louie takes advantage of the Box and 1 Wingate is playing on Mullin and decides to get the Ball to Berry and this gets Ewing in foul trouble . Berry goes for 30 and we win ... Then , beat Nova for the 4 th that Year and win the NCAA.

Yeah Sly, I’ve often had the same thought.
