We all knew we needed Heron and Figgy to carry us. Regrettably Heron has been disappointing..and had 0 assists today if I’m not mistaken. On the bright side Champagne and Roberts are going to be real good . Steere will help.

The 3rd foul on Roberts, less then 20 seconds into the second half, was a major turning point. ASU just got inside too easily after that.

Be careful where you sling your PU around here good man!

People need to keep this in perspective. We don’t have the talent to take teams to task at this level if our top two aren’t both playing well. We are really lacking talent compared to the other teams we will face. Our two Pg’s have transferred from low-mid major programs, we are still without our 4-star center as well. 8 of our 10 players getting the most minutes were not recruited at the high D1 level. This is the start of rebuilding and it won’t be fun all the time.

I will say, our defensive breakdowns, down the stretch are what bothered me the most. We can ALWAYS play good defense for a game’s entirety. We started giving up in the last 10+ minutes, which is not acceptable.

So let me understand this: CMA yanked our 3 best players at the same time in the first half-thus allowing AS to go on a 15-1 run-so he could rest them for the 2nd half? Well that didn’t exactly work out as planned. Think this game should serve as a dose of reality. We are not as bad as we played in the 2nd half today, and not as good as we’ve played so far this year.

Now we get to kick UMASS, WAGNER, ST. Peter's, maybe all blowouts, and everyone will be all happy again.
Then see what happens vs. WVU, hope we won't get disappointed then.

Champ, Roberts and Steere are our core for the future. All of her just getting their feet wet in D1 ball though so it will take time, but Roberts and Champagnie have been fantastic young players.

We were 2.5 pt dogs in this game. We had the talent to hang with AS, we just stunk up the joint in the 2nd half.

Poor play from the point guard position (although, Rutherford and Dunn had their moments) and a terrible game by Heron.

Too many, ill advised passes and overall, sloppy play in the latter half. Defense also fell apart in the second half.

The most disappointing part of this game was that SJU seemingly had control of the game and then wilted like flowers in the first frost. One minute your up 10 and the pretty quickly your down 5 or 6.

Heron’s performance is frustrating. No one player is responsible for any defeat. However, in our case, he is one of two that we need to score and lead this team. It just hasn’t been there.

Dunn and Rutherford each had more turnovers than assists.

There is no other way to spin it but we were terrible in the second half. Roberts foul trouble opened up the middle and we had no answer. Champagne did play well and Roberts has talent(Foul trouble was to be expected). Figueroa was ok. Everyone else was missing something. The fact that Heron fell into that group is troubling. Was Greg Williams out with an injury?

We all knew there would be games like this at times this year. 25 minutes of hell and 15 minutes of what the hell are we doing as CMA said. Hopefully we learn from it and move on. UMass played Virginia tough for most of that game today. We need to speed them up. They play at like the second slowest pace in the country and they’re almost all freshman and sophomores. Need LJ and Heron to stand out.

As we learned in Dayton you don't win when you play like crap.

I really don't understand why we can win big vs. Horrible mid major teams but can't beat tourney caliber teams.

The spread in an early season game means nothing and no it doesn’t mean the talent level is even. Not in the least. Most of our team are bench guys who got almost no minutes last year, low-mid major transfers or not hotly recruited freshmen.

I’m not saying we are devoid of talent but we do t even have close to the starting 5 we have last year, and the guys that rode our bench are starters this year. We could have won the game for sure, and have a ways to go with consistency. We aren’t as talented as ASU nor will we be as talented as most of the Big East teams we are playing against.
