(POST GAME) (H of F) Columbia, Wed. Nov. 20, 7p, FS-1, 970 WNYM

Refreshing to see a dominating win in November without having to stretch minutes for rotation core. When was last time we won a game by double digits (or at all) without anyone playing more than 24 minutes?

That type of effective game management is how you (1) keep legs fresh for long grind of season, a consistent issue for multiple prior regimes, and (2) provide valuable minutes to mid-back of rotation, whom you don't know to what extent you're going to need later in year, and if you don't lay groundwork now is difficult to throw into action in Feb.

Recognize we are only 5 games in, mostly against cupcakes, but nobody averaging 30 mpg or more to this point can pay dividends on multiple levels as season progresses. Doubt that's accidental.

WRT Earlington, I believe his intensity, rebounding, good hands and even good percentage of FT shooting is attributable to the experience and training during his HS football days.

Not arguing just curious how do you figure FT shooting is related to football?
Not to argue but Earlington was not a chopped liver HS basketball player. He was an integral, arguably the key component, to a team that lost in the finals of the NJ TOC two years running, no small feat. He generally played better as the competition got better. Was he what one would call a legitimate BE recruit? Absolutely not but that was due in part at least because of his concentration on football in HS. Believe me, he did not make the decision to concentrate on BB in college without having the confidence he had the ability to succeed. I posted when he signed not to underestimate him. Am I surprised by his success this year, not really, but as probably his biggest fan on the board, I would temper what has happened to date with the suggestion to wait until we are into the BE schedule to get a larger and more objective body of work at this level. In fact, I would add the same caution for Roberts I am not saying that I think either will not continue to play well, merely that obviously the competition is going to get better and both have basically played 5 D1 games.

I'm just glad fans aren't in charge of the roster, because Earlington would have been gone before getting to show off the results of all his hard work this past offseason.

We'd be further ahead now if Mullin had given Roberts and Earlington more time last year. He really should have worked them in.
