Post Game Euphoric thoughts

The Syracuse AD should rethink the "coach in waiting' agreement reached with Mr. Hopkins.

Hopkins looked like a "deer in the headlights" with his failure to adjust his defense to counter StJohns 3-2 double high post offense. If Hopkins had changed up into a half court trap, or otherwise pressured StJohns earlier in the game then the result may have been different.

There is a long line of successful assistant coaches with out head coaching experience (like Hopkins) that have been duds as head coaches. Syracuse fans should fear that Hop's lack of any head coaching experience will cost its program.

Mullin and his staff out coached the Syracuse University staff today and New York's Team won.

ok guys...is there something wrong with me?.....i'm rewatching the game on my dvr....can't help it....just smiling ear to ear!

Be fair, Syracuse has pretty much played the 2-3 exclusively for years; years. So Hopkins, 2 or 3 games into a stint as an interim coach, should change into defenses they probably never even practiced? I am sure the Cuse staff expected us to cool off and we didn't. Mullin and company had a great game plan but as Chris said several times leading up to the game we needed to make shots, which we did. We went out and won this game more than Cuse lost it. Tremendous team effort.

Great win in a challenging season. Fingers crossed on LoVett & sensing some solid recruiting movement sooner than later.

Please forgive the crudity of it, however here is the locker room speech people were looking to see

my first impression of the video is what does desco think of Mullin's shoes :)

Excellent job closing out of the 3 point shooters. Mussini stuck with Cooney, and he looked out of sorts all game. Didn't see the Sports Center top 10, but both Amar's follow-up dunk and Yakwe's block should be on there, although you get a lot of football plays on a Sunday. Amar must read the board, because he played like a man with something to prove.

Too tired to write up anything insightful. All I can say is it is a wonderful day to be a Johnnie. Great team win all around over a solid Syracuse team.

And oh how great it was to see all that orange exiting MSG at the 1 minute mark

loved the atmosphere and loved the chants of "New York's team at the end". also loved the enthusiasm of the players throughout, especially at the end when some went around slapping hands with fans.

I'd wear dress shoes .. but he can put a personal touch on his wardrobe.
They look like those spike-less golf shoes that Fred Couples wears now.

Mullin is professional in every other way. If he wants comfortable kicks.. so be it.

By the way, is it me or is Amar the leader on the floor?

He was positioning his teammates throughout the game. Really thought he played a heady game.

Pre trip to Germany to lock up Freudenberg, Matt's Twitter thoughts;

Shows when you stay committed to the plan good things happen. Great to have our home court- MSG- rockin in RED. We are NY's team #sjubb

Hope so. I think RF will be a stud and part of an exciting Euro-Trifecta!

takeaways..
we beat (upstate NY's) team :p
great execution of game plan
12 of 24 3's :woohoo:
fans in orange were very quiet
StJ fans were in the game...awesome
Was like the last second Pitt win in MSG 2 years ago. Place was rockin'
CM was pumped about effort/result
Just a great game by the "new" Johnnies players & staff
Now..... back to our regularly scheduled program. Just continue with that effort results will vary obviously. But yesterday was bliss.

Double post v zone was difference maker

It really was and I don't recall seeing it before against the 2-3. It didn't matter who was there either, Mvouika, Yawke, Sima, Alibegovic all had good looks.

Oakland University where misused ST John's shooters go to thrive.

Very poor man's Berry but that is good enough. Really like him

All I know is I had a cheesy smile on my face for whole game. We have had bigger wins in Lavin era but I can't recall a game I enjoyed more.
