I'm still numb but let me touch on a couple things

1. Great to run into JSJ before the game and as usual the 114 crew and Shaun and Cole post game

2. I was dead wrong about this game. No way in heck did I think we had any shot of winning. Heck if it wasn't cuse we were playing I would have bet against us. As far as I know there was only 1 person to pick us to win. Oh yeah that would be Lavin.

3, Kudos to Mullin and staff. What a game plan. Their best game of the year. The biggest key to this game was Mussini. When he was off the court Cuse went on a run but more importantly go back and whoever dvr's the game and look. I don't think there was more than 1 time that when Mussini got the ball past the half court that the ball stayed in his hands for more than 2 full seconds. Not more than 1. That was the key. The ball movement was contagious which we needed against the zone

4. If I had to pick 1 game on the schedule that I wanted to win it was this game. Fuck Cuse.

5. Also a great win for the Big East

6. Irish times which is now the Thirsty Fan is back open again. Opened back up 3 days ago which is very important for post game celebratory drinks like today

7 Ralph didn't curse once. Or at least 4 letter word curse

WHAT A FREAKING GAME !!!!!!!!!

You are not alone on #2. When I saw the line was only 9 points, I actually Googled "how to bet legally on NCAA games within the US." Luckily, I came up with nothing. Never again do I go to the dark side like that. Great freakin' win.

It was great to see an actual plan of attack and not just mindless dribble and chuck!!! to see our bigs at the elbow and ready to pass out (some were ill advised) but what a game…..And after today i don't think we will be a last place team.

Totally agreed this was the one game I wanted to win. Even though half the Big East is probably better than Syracuse this year, it feels great not just winning but seeing them lose.

Agree;

At the Garden
Great crowd
National TV
A number of high quality recruits on hand
Pulling off an upset against a rival

For me that works!

I'm greedy. I want to win them all! Kidding this year, but I've thought for awhile that, with Lovett, this team will surprise this Season.
And Mussini incredibly under-rated as a recruit. I think he'll be All Big East at some point in his career.
Great great great win versus 'Cuse...my Gawd!

Well just watched Mullin's post game locker speech. "Pay attention to detail and we can beat anyone." Can't help but feel great that his recruits and their parents have to be so impressed listening to his interview after the game with Bill Raf.
Johnny fans we have a win, win situation for many years.

Great weekend for the Big East:
Butler > Tennessee (SEC)
X > Cincinnati (AAC)
Marquette > Wisconsin (B10)
New York's Team > Syracuse (ACC)
Villanova > LeSalle
Creighton > IUPI
Georgetown > UNC Wilmington
Providence > Bryant
Seton Hall > St.Peter's
but
DePaul < Arkansas Little Rock.

Bu my calculations the Big East today stands at a collective overall record of 77 wins and 20 losses.... pretty darn good.

where can I watch the speech ?

Just finished watching the second half. I saw the first half and had to DVR the rest. Went to visit my very old mom, so I had a good reason to miss the second half. I couldn't focus at all, so I called a friend for a score. Watching the last 5 minutes, even knowing the result, I felt like I was watching it live. Maybe it's just me, but this moment seemed to mean even more because Chris Mullin is our coach. I was worried a little when he was hired because I was concerned that my favorite player ever would have his legacy tarnished if things went south. Now, I'm not the least bit worried. Where's that poster that was saying that he saw no reason for optimism? I hope, like Paulie, we won't be seeing him around anymore.

You can probably see it on FS1 tonight. Just tape their channel and see if they have it, I expect they will.

DVR'd the game and just finishing watching it. Enjoyed it just as much the second time. Crowd was about as alive as any I've ever seen. Loved the standing ovation as the first half came to a close. Loved the engagement between the players, and between the players and the fans. The players clearly have a strong affinity for each other. Not something we've seen very much of in recent years. After years of hearing people say to me that our program would never be successful again, and after years of me countering with "we are one good head coach away from again being a successful program again", I feel vindicated. We are back!!!!!!!!!!!

It was shown during the pregame show for the next game (Seton Hall).
Any chance you recorded it?
Muiin's best line was "This is why I push you guys so hard.
On a given night, you can beat anyone." (paraphrasing)

Double post v zone was difference maker

It really was and I don't recall seeing it before against the 2-3. It didn't matter who was there either, Mvouika, Yawke, Sima, Alibegovic all had good looks.

What was great was that when the post guy caught it 2 wing men went to corners and the other high post guy cut to the hoop. Perfect game plan which got many open looks. The passing out of the post was great today, very unselfish play by everyone.

:woohoo: I live in upstate New York and there are loudmouth SU fans all over. Of course, I'm going to point out that St. John's beat SUcks, by 12 points for the 2nd straight year.

Also, on the CBS sportsline basketball website, they harped on the fact that STJ seldom beats SU, and no mention of us beating them 2 straight years. Typical ignorance of some writers.

We are 10 games into the season, and Coach Mullin already has his first signature win. They may not be ranked, but Syracuse still has a lot of athletes and talent and highly ranked recruits. The joy on the faces of the players was evident. Happy for Amar, who played like he wants to be a big part of the program no matter who comes in.
