Ironically John Gotti lived around the block from me on Dean Street as a teen. His gang, the Fulton & Rockaway Boys were social pariahs in the neighborhood and any time a car was stolen, they were the first suspects. His parents were nice people from the old country however.
 
I have many street memories of gangs in my hood on the upper west side. Lucky for me, those gangs were amateurs!
