Podcasts and Videos ……

Solo podcast reaction like the good ol days (last year) but I focused on a few points - why the defense was "bad" and the lack of production from the bench. How do you fix the defense? Is it even possible, as you'll hear from Rick Pitino even he's not sure. But I know the hot takes have been extreme and emotions are high so perhaps this pod can help people cope a little. There's still a few days till Fordham so we can stew together and move on while the Johnnies get their tails kicked in practice leading up to Fordham on Saturday.

St. John’s responded well off the BC loss by drubbing Fordham as they should, it’s something they’ve done well - handle their big games with ease. Now Big East play is here - Frank and I discuss the Fordham win and then we’re joined by the guys from the Red Storm Rapid Reaction Podcast (Pat and Cole) to talk about the first 10 games of the season, expectations and what we want to see from the start of conference play. Enjoy!

Rick Pitino was waiting for the perfect moment to unleash the zone. Was he playing possum the whole non conference season or was this the culmination of 10 games worth of chemistry? That moment seemingly was the Big East opener against Xavier and Sean Miller’s squad didn’t know what hit em. Frank and I discuss the 15 point win, Nahiem Alleyne getting the start, Drissa Traore’s development, Joel Soriano playing like and All American and we preview the big opportunity against UConn this Saturday

St. John's had a chance to steal one on the road in Hartford against the #5 Huskies. They were up six at half but let the opportunity slip by. We break down the loss; from Joel Soriano's usage to the surprise player that probably should taking those late game 3's, how good the matchup zone looks even though it's only been deployed for two games, Jenkins shooting woes and the silver linings that came from a tough road test

Cure your boredom and wait for Hofstra with part 3 of Coachcast with St. John's Assistant Coach Bob Walsh. We go in-depth on the match-up zone defense, lessons learned from the Xavier win and UConn loss, Joel Soriano not getting the ball more in UConn, Jenkins' shooting woes, Wilcher and Dunlap's struggles, a year end assessment, previewing the Hofstra matchup on Saturday and so much more.

Coachcast with St. John’s Assistant Coach Bob Walsh is also available to watch on YouTube for those that prefer to consume their content with their eyes as well as ears!

St. John’s is 10-4 following a 16 point win over Posh Alexander and the Butler Bulldogs. They’re 2-1 to start Big East play for the first time since the 2018-2019 season and trending upwards. Daniss Jenkins and Brady Dunlap dazzled the Carnesecca Arena crowd in a wire to wire win with smothering pressure defense and always having an answer for any Butler run. I’m joined by Zach Braziller of the NY Post and Kevin Connelly of Storm the Paint to go in depth on the win and preview the Villanova game on Saturday
