Playing Poker with Next Season's Roster

Has it been confirmed that Dlo is going to Europe with the team? I'd say that would determine the outcome of his situation. Anyone got any info on that? I expect transfers so one or two 2013 signees would be a good idea. Norm always scored late in the game and got guys who played in the NCAAs. There are plenty of kids still playing in the tourneys who never sniffed the top 100. That beats walkons. Our walkons should have been playing two years ago. There was no need to get 13 wins and make Dunlap look like superman. If Steve could have seen fit to remain visible instead of sitting in the skybox he might have retained some ownership of the operation but he knew we were going to suck and didn't want responsibility for that. The walkons ironically got more minutes when we had a full roster this year. That's so strange.

Remain visible how? It was mentioned countless times that bench coaching was too strenuous given his condition (the physical one, not the mental one you claimed he had).

And Dunlap did not get interviewed on the strength of his 13-win season. He came HIGHLY recommended to Jordan. And obviously dazzled in an interview. And it really sounds like you were advocating throwing games by playing walk ons.

The time to use walkons was two years ago - not this year when it appeared that we threw games with the Harrison decision. Do you really think he couldn't have made the difference vs Marquette and PC? We've yet to hear anything specific that warranted his dismissal and sacrificing a .500 record in the BE made all the difference when you evaluate the team overall. I've never seen a coach attend games without having contact with his team. If you think Dunlap would have gone from assistant to NBA head coach that's your opinion, not mine. Winning 13 games with six players had everything to do with Dunlap's departure. Your "highly recommended" and dazzling in the interview are purely conjecture. He'd been interviewed for college HC jobs and failed to dazzle prior to that season. Jordan realized his team was going nowhere and he was looking to fill a need under hopeless circumstances. Dunlap happened to fill that bill but I doubt that it will last as their roster improves.

Real SJU fans hope for the best for our players. Where does that put you on the food chain? The droppings category IMO.

What makes you any more of a "real" St. John's fan than I? If it's based on saying something ignorant, disgusting, and stupid, along with pissing and moaning, then I guess you are more of a "real" St. John's fan than I.

Another one of your many, poignant quotes.

So you're the guy who has never been to a Saint John's home game and still managed to generate over 3000 posts. That would mean that your only information sources are the crumby TV broadcasts and your beloved internet. Like what purpose do you serve other than annoying fans who take the time and spend the money to see all the team happenings you're not privy to. You live a lot closer to Tobacco Road. Why didn't you pick among the many teams you could have supported in person instead of trolling on a NYC site? My guess is those fans wouldn't tolerate you at all. You would also have to leave your computer to attend games and that's not your style at all.

You really think Lavin owes you an explanation over Harrison, don't you? Even at the expense of Harrison's privacy? And possibly hinder his ability to transfer to his top choice if it comes to that if he's shown to be a malcontent? And then if we heard specifics, you'd want Lavin fired for violating Harrison's privacy.

Dunlap's strength is X's and O's -- he really doesn't have many equals or superiors in that department. But he doesn't like recruiting, which is why he's been passed over for college gigs. Dunlap is not the first guy to win 13 games with a short bench. There have been guys who've won more with a short bench. Or a rash of injuries. Or a lack of height. But they didn't get an NBA gig, or even an interview. So how did he get noticed while others didn't? It is not conjecture that Dunlap was highly recommended to Jordan. Go ask your imaginary NBA scout friend to see what he says.

I think the BOT should launch an investigation on how often Lavin got up to pee during his job interview here, and if he had ordered Super Beta Prostate before he took the job.

I think the whole direction this thread took is pathetic. However, I do understand, Beast, where you are coming from.

My imaginary NBA contact is preparing to go to Portsmouth where he'll generate reports and commentary on players as he does every year. Then he'll be off to the playoffs and the draft where he's responsible for all the statistical reference material. Even though he's imaginary he fields inquiries all day from scouts and GMs regarding college players. We discuss SJU very often and he totally agrees with my points of view on the subject. Now ask yourself whether I should care more about that or what a klutz like you has to say? He's a busy guy but he'd be willing to make the time to prove his existence. If you're really that sure and want to back it up it can be arranged but lunch and a reasonable wager payoff would be on you. Feel free to bring friends at the same stakes. All losers to be offered a brief Q&A session and a chance to find out how the league really works. So put up or shut up friend.

Well, if the playoffs wind up in your neighborhood we might yet be able to set something up. same terms apply of course. A lunch tab and say a grand on the wager might be a worthwhile investment for a guy so lacking and thirsting for knowledge. I guarantee you the most educational meal you ever bought. We'll see.

LOL Funny, bobre....

Using posting numbers in an argument or discussion is irrelevant, and usually discredits anything you have to say. But you should be used to that by now. I can say, that I probably have more sources than you, regardless where I reside in the great, 'ole U.S. of A.

Now, that I've attended a St. John's game, you've reached into your other bag, albeit weak, about attending a St. John's home game. Another dumb argument by you.

Last I checked, this site is part of the "World Wide Web." I didn't know Redmen.com was affiliated with NYC and NYC only. By the way, you don't reside in NYC any longer, so why are you still posting on this site?

Speaking of trolling.... Here is the definition: Someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

It sounds to me like you have that one down pat. Do you remember your posts last year, and even this year about ridiculing the coach about cancer, and the passing of his father? Many of your posts are strange and delusional.

Lastly, you just confirmed my previous post.... Shockingly, you didn't piss, moan, or say anything disgusting. But you certainly covered ignorant and stupid. At least, you didn't disappoint.

Well congratulations on finally making it to a game. That puts you one less behind the hundreds I've attended. Well whoop de damn doo for you. But why no response as to why you chose to inflict yourself on a Saint Johns site rather than the zillions in your neighborhood. There has to be a story behind that.unless you also have thousands of local posts which would lead me to ask when you're able to leave the house. I thank you for remembering my historical posts but wonder why you didn't get anything out of them. And your imaginary sources? Care to expand a little on that? I use people with actual credentials and would be glad to compare them to yours. Finally websites are the home of opinions. I limit mine to when I have something to say. Your sheer volume just belies that philosopy. Have a nice day on your machine.

Ummmmmmm.... You said, "NYC site," liar. You never uttered anything about a St. John's site. The reason why I can post on this site is because it's part of the World Wide Web, as I stated before. Which means anyone who has access to the internet can post on this site.

Once again, if the premise of your argument is based on how many posts I have or how many games I've attended, then your argument is weak. It tells me that you're reaching. It also confirms what I've stated about you already.

Why would anyone get anything out of your posts? Most of the time it's not worth the time you've wasted typing 'em.

Imaginary sources? LOL Good one. Why would I announce my sources on the board, and risk the chance of those folks not give me any info again? Not to mention, I certainly wouldn't tell you any of my sources. LOL I have an idea about your "source," but it's not worth going into it.

You're right websites are, supposedly, the home of opinions (whether, they are stupid, like many of your posts, or not).... If you limited yours 'til you had something to say, then you'd have 350 less posts on the board. By the way, ridiculing the coach about cancer is having something to say, huh? Gotcha!

Bobre, Moose just sent me a reminder to remind you to
"Have a discussion
Stop the bickering and insults.
Thanks"

I've been a season ticket holder and ardent fan for several decades now but when a guy who's not an alum and has never been to a game tells me I don't know jack about the program it just rubs me the wrong way. I have eight tickets in my name and my super well informed NBA source is in the group. I pay for his ticket in gratitude for his company and information. I have no interest in bickering or insulting anyone as long as it's not done to me. I have never berated Steve Lavin regarding his physical issues and I'm deeply sympathetic about them. My main rooting interest however will always be for the team. I did say that I thought the coach should have been at the Louisville game and that opinion was echoed thereafter by MCNPA. That' again is just an opinion but it is not unique to me. Beyond that I've had many problems with some of the basketball decisions over the last three years and they have had nothing to do with the coaches' health. So far the record has stood for itself and little else need be said about that. My greatest hope is that things come together next season but I'm deeply concerned about what will happen after that. Anyone who follows the team should feel the same IMO but it is as always a matter of opinion. In the meantime I promise I will not be the one to break the peace unless unnecessarily provoked.

Bobre, it is funny that you mentioned that Lavin should have been at the Louisville game after his fathers death. When I made a similar post to that effect trying to gain the pulse of this forum, I thought they were going to scatter my body parts all over the 5 boroughs. Meanwhile, it wasn't my sentiment!

On that note, his dad died on Sunday morning, the day of the Cuse game. The Louisville game was on Thursday of that week. Does anyone know what day the funeral was?
