Maurice saw his first NBA action tonight. I post this at halftime. Magic are down 38-34 to Twolves. Maurice has played 13 minutes, 0-1 from the field, 1-2 from the line, 4 rebounds (2 offense, 2 defense), 1 steal, 1 block, 2 fouls, +8, 1 point.

My bad ESPN had the minutes wrong. He played less minutes so even more productive per minute.

Nice! I was wondering when he was finally going to get in. Great to read this.

Just to clarify he was injured prior to tonights game.

Yes, of course. The sports hernia surgery. He had been cleared to play a few games ago I believe. I think the team just wanted to make sure he had his sea-legs underneath him. As a reminder, Hedo Turkoglu broke his hand, so Moe hopefully will see plenty of minutes in the coming weeks.

Moe has made his NBA debut tonight for the Orlando Magic!

Unfortunately the Magic are being blown out by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In the 4th, Moe is 0/4 FG, 0/1 3PT, 1/2 FT, 4 Reb, 2 Asst. 1 point scored so far.

I know labels do not necessarily mean very much - but when you check Orlando's active roster on the ESPN website (post Turkoglu injury); the team lists Harkless as the only small-forward on the team. They have all power-forwards and guards. So hopefully he sees a ton of playing time - kind of like what happened with Artest when he first played on the Bulls. Artest played 31 minutes a game his rookie year on a bad Bulls team. It benefited him tremendously.

7 in his debut. Along with 5 boards 2 steals 2 blocks.

Zip last night in 21 minutes. Only 0-1 from the field.

Played 22 minutes or so in each game.

I think Harkless has some amnesia and somehow forgot out how to shoot... I think I just heard the NBA game announcer say that Harkless is 3 for 10 from the free-throw line this season so far... Hopefully it's just early season jitters.
On the other hand, he just made a nice defensive rebound, then dribbled the ball up the court and threaded the needle, passing the ball (between two or three defenders) to a teammate for a nice easy layup conversion.
Next possession, he made a nice offensive board and converted the put-back while getting fouled.... He tried to convert the 'And-1' foul shot, but left the free throw short... now 3 for 11 on the season..

Edit: Harkless finished with 8 points, 4 for 5 shooting from the field (seems like all dunks and layups), 0-3 free throws (yuck), 8 rebounds, 2 assist and no turnovers. In 19 minutes. You can make a living doing that. Hopefully he improves his shooting tough and just doesn't turn into a rebounds-only guy.

Harkless has broken into the starting lineup. He's started the last couple of games. It's good to see.

Mo got to the NBA showing although real skinny he could bang and rebound. Posters here figured he was playing out of position, but the teams lack of size worked out real good for Mo. Had he spent time floating around outside, he still be here. Mo could turn out to be a guy with skills, who runs the court, shots, and is willing to do some dirty work. I guess that would make him a complete player, and well paid. Unlike Nuri he took to the coaching.

I didn't get to watch but Moe's stat line vs. Brooklyn was solid tonight. He was 7-10 from the field, 2-4 from 3 point line for 16 points, with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals with 2 turnovers in 34 minutes.

You can tell he's working out like crazy. He looks stronger than last year.

Moe definitely looks stronger in his upper body this year. From the Nets game, his 3 point shot looks improved as well. The Nets announcers were talking about him improving his handle so that he could play more 2 at the NBA level in addition to the 3.

I think one area he needs to work on is moving without the ball (sound familiar?). Obviously, Orlando doesn't have a prolific offense, but Harkless would constantly just park himself in the corner waiting to shoot a 3. Because of that he would literally go 3 or 4 posessions some times without touching the ball. As a result, he appeared to get a little disinterested at times. Needs to move and come get the ball. On that team, they'll take anything they can get.

Welcome to the NBA. It's become such a 3 point sport, college and pro, that it takes the fun out of the game. But you're right, for the guy/team that moves the ball it can become a way to improve your stats and win more games.

Finished with 15 & 6 rebounds yesterday to in a loss to Dunlap's Bobcats & with 20 & 8 tonight is a loss to the Mavericks.
