No again I get it I was more focused on scrimmages and people complaining about that.

It is fair to say that Exhibitions are more formal and we do see them get televised.

North Carolina a prominent blue blood just played a hot upstart FAU (went to Final Four last year) and I don't believe that game was broadcast anywhere even locally.

And that game would have regular season appeal.
you're correct, Jeff Goodman ends up sending an "update" when the game is over if he gets info from a source etc

Pretty pathetic trying to force fans to go to exhibition games by not allowing this to be streamed (like in prior years). Many fans are out of state and obviously would be crazy to expect them to travel to watch us beat up Pace. Is the school really that afraid of empty seats for preseason games?

Thankfully the school doesn't control TV rights for the regular season games, though those will likely all be sold out regardless.

I may be overreacting but methinks Shanley and Pitino may be a gang of two at SJU committed to dragging SJU into the brave new world of college sports.

In any other year did anyone really care about exhibition games. Come on guys we have a ball of fame coach a really solid team and those here are complaining 2 exhibition games not televised ? Besides if I was a coach why would I want this to be on tv? Not to give other teams early tapes of our players so far style so they can study and be prepared? It's like having the oven on pre bake who really cares that the oven is heated yet .

Completely missing the point, fans want to see their team play; yes, even in exhibition games. More so when a fan base has had to go through the dreck of decades of poor teams, poor coaches and pretty consistent turmoil and then to finally get a program changing HOF coach only to be deprived of seeing the team for no remotely good reasons.
And sorry, many exhibition games are televised, the idea that that gives opposing coaches a leg up on studying other teams holds absolutely no water; coaches are busy now developing their own squads, by the time they need scouting tapes, which really kicks in when conference games start, there are tapes of real games readily available.

Lol my posts have been 99.9% positive since we hired Pitino- this is a minor critique on the unusual (anti-fan) way the school is now handling exhibition games. Yes, I had watched our exhibition games in the past, and these two are far more anticipated than any of them.

I was in Atlanta this weekend but would've loved to stream this (even PPV towards charity). This was a weak move by the school in a failed attempt to sell out the game (and Pace game). It deserved to be seen and would've made for great TV. Would've also improved our relationship with whichever network picked this up, and ultimately made the charity more money.

Rutgers was at least a somewhat unique situation, but Pace not being streamed is ridiculous. Is this a huge deal? Of course not, and everyone will forget about it in a few weeks once the real games start. That said, unlike the yes-men, I'll express my displeasure when it's warranted.

Anyone remember if those Marathon Oil exhibitions were televised?

Back to the game...Pace is slated to finish sixth in their conference this year. They have three freshmen...and three grad students. No one is over 6'7"...and there's no shortage of academic all-americas on the team. That being said, they're coming off two straight Division II NCAA appearances and had 20 wins last year. I guess that's all we need to know.

As coach said the Rutgers game showed him more but for us it means something. We have historically in the past played to the level of our opponents and often lost. But coach is not going to embarrass our opponent so I'm expecting to see more guys play that normally won't .
