Overseas Recruiting Strategy

Bacically I am tired of hearing the flag waiving of not extending Lavin .I feel he has been doing better and that the has more to offer SJU You can lead a horse to water but sometimes you can not make him drink same is with recruits We now seem to be playing good basketball It is a total effort btw players and staff I said at the beginning of this yr Dom is next level potential many posters were down on him . Now opinions have changed. Lavin and players are our team now I stand behind them 100% at this point. Still feel he is a right fit of the future of our program Just my opinion which I know will be hammered

Not gonna hammer you but I'll pose this question:

Are we really playing better? Or have we had the fortune of playing home games against depaul creighton and seton hall?

The two top 25 teams we have played in the last month have completely dismantled us, so I cant really see how we. "Are playing good basketball". ( your words), when the reality is what we are seeing is the result of a soft part of a good schedule.

The next 2 weeks will tell us the truth, especially if all our key players can stay healthy. Beating Xavier at Xavier was not a soft win. The others wins I can see your point.

To be fair you should have mentioned the game at Xavier which is a very tough place to play. I thought the team seemed extremely well coached that day.
The complete opposite of the game at Butler ,another tough place to play.

Ok, and I also omitted the Duke game which we were winning by double digits in the second half and then another unmitigated disaster happened. And we can add the PC win at MSG too for shits n giggles. But have we really "played better" or have we just played worse competition?

They ran out of gas in that Duke game, that was quite obvious to even the most casual of basketball fans.
All the loses to top echelon teams have been because we ran out of gas at the end. Not because of coaching or lack of effort from these players. I know I know IF the coach would have not taken the 2014 recruiting cycle off we PROBABLY wouldn't have run out of gas, just like IF you weren't the Mavens son, you PROBABLY wouldn't be such a douche.

And if ur mother would've swallowed u instead of letting daddy proceed to go *your screenname* on her the board would have one less poster with the wrong # of chromosomes. Ok?

Can we do it after the Xavier game instead. Parking lot on 35th and 8th?

Fellas what's with all this hostility. Some hate Lavin more than others some like him more than others but the constant between all of us is we want this team to succeed. So let's focus on that for now. As far as Lavin and his contract I'm really not concerned with it until after this season

May be time to grow up here. Macho crap is better served with PMs.

Another thread derailed...

But not before asking some good questions about resilience under stress by some of our non-seniors. We will see if Amar and ADR and most of all Jordan give us what is needed to win in the coming week.

Personally I don't care if Lavin gets players from Mars. As long as they can play and not end of the bench type players.

And if they can actually shoot then I'll be happy.

I'd still like a couple jucos though because we need to balance out this roster and would like a couple of guys that can make an immediate contribution.

Wish it seemed like we were still on top of freeman and really hope we are recruiting his teammate

Greece,Belgium,Finland,Italy. It could be like the united nations

Just to add, we are so global now, having a roster with foreign kids is no big deal. Look at MLB, and how many players are from Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Japan, and South Korea for example.

Most importantly, as a NYC school with campus in Europe, recruiting foreigners should be encouraged.

Sure if all things being equal, it would be nice to have a City kid run the point. But all things are not equal. Time to get creative, and win.

What would a roster of current NYC kids look like?
What kids do we have from our own turf?

there was a st johns commercial yesterday which I thought was pretty good and they mentioned the global campuses and I actually thought right then that we should be a hub for good international players mixed in with recruits here.

Who knows. Maybe this is the class that happens and it works out for us
