One thing I would have liked to see from D'Angelo

He is the man on this team. Plain and simple. In overtime, we had no direction. The best things happen when he has the ball in his hands. He had a phenomenal game offensively. We needed him to step up in OT. For some reason, he could not shake himself free from his defender. Please watch tapes of Michael, Kobe, and Lebron to figure out how to do that in critical situations. It was frustrating to watch Greene dribble the shot clock down going nowhere and D Lo unable to get to the ball. He was our best shot to win the game.

And then if he took a tough shot this place would have criticized him for taking a bad shot.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't here.

For some reason? He is the slowest guard on the court every game. He couldn't stay in front of Baldi at the YMCA on defense :)

His skill and coordination are off the charts, though.

I think Harrison had a big game.. But, LAVIN did not get him the ball enough in OT.. He had Branch standing around in the wing watching Phil Greene dribble the game away in OT..

If Branch is suppose to be true PG, why have Greene dribbling away ridiculously?

Once again, a allegedly slow, small opponent SG, put the screws to Lavin's soft zone. Heslip, Doolan, Archindonutado, shredded Steve's defense like swiss cheese..Many of our posters have said these kids would not have been recruited by Lavin, yet, they beat our athletic gazelles at will! Maybe Steve ought to recruit a slow, small SG TOO?

It's happened too many times this year and its become a chronic Coaching failure.. Sure our players need to play better but, Lavin is showing his weaknesses every game.. And, they are being exploited by nearly every opponent.

I keep thinking of the Coaches poll shown last season in SI that had Steve has the 2nd most oveRrated Coach in COLLEGE BB.

I keep hoping I will see some in game adjustment from Lavin and it never happens.

WELL?

I'm not sure how anyone can mutter a negative word about Harrison's game last night.

Teacher, teacher!!! I have my hand up! Please let me answer!!!

FORTY FOUR MINUTES.........and ONE EFFEN ASSIST?

Sadly, this staff of out-of-towners may soon start to look a lot like the Mike Jarvis nightmare. Start out fast, with other coaches players (see Norm Roberts seniors) and then start to fizzle with your own, get bored recruiting, and then leave us in a coaching conundrum because the entire staff was composed of family and friends who gave zero input.

I'm not sure I EXPECT a SG like Harrison to be much of a Assist collector but, respect the views of others who think he should be. DLO IS NOT A NATURAL PASSER or set up guy. He's a scorer..

I do recall a few times where he penetrated deep into the paint, threw a bounce pass to CO or Sampson and they fumbled the ball away or could not finish.. CO is not yet a offensive player nor, much of a rebounder. Sampson plays too far from the hoop. He needs the ball near the elbow, not the far wing.

Quite the 180.

Are you out of your mind? He poured in 36 points and shot 50% from the field and 3 point land-- everytime STJ needed a hoop he got it and STJ would have lost the game by 18 if he wasn't playing. I don't think his assist total should be a concern.

How anybody can criticize Harrison after last night is beyond me

The only reason we were in last night's game was because of him

We have the best fan base in the world.

How dare you criticize them

I've had reservations about Lavin's Coaching since game 3 of the Charleston Classic against Baylor and Heslip..

Others too, have expressed similar views... I'm not ready to liken him to Jarvis or Roberts but, he's in year 3 of what should be a 5 year plan, like Crean at Indiana..If his program isn't a winner, League Title Contender by then, the results need to be evaluated.

I do think he's not adjusted his recruiting or game plans to BE style BB.. Will he? Stay tuned..

You asked for a negative! Beware of what you wish for! LOL!

I understand, just thought the kid played great last night.

You have got to be crazy to criticize a kid who pumped in an efficient 36 points.

The scary thing is that his points didn't come off of set plays. That is downright scary.

How does a coach look the media in the face after a game like that? Our points came from D'Angelo just going bezerk and Amir hustle points. Nothing was drawn up. Nothing. Not one post up. Nothing for Marco to free him up so he just chucks it because he knows he'll get yanked. NotHing.

If D'Angelo gets in foul trouble last night, we lose by 20.

The lack of any kind of concept on offense is a shame. Even the announcer called our stupid weave "false motion".

The staff might as well leave the clipboards at home because we have no need for them.

I wish SJU opened up one of our practices to the media because I am really curious what this team spends their time practicing. Clearly it isn't offensive sets.

He had a monster game. No doubt. Without him, we're getting blown out. In OT, he was a non factor. Was that Lavin's fault? Probably some, The offense had no rhythm. It needed to run through him. The greats do what they need to get free. He languished on the wings not even trying to rub his man off until there were 7 secs on the shot clock. That only resulted in rushed shots.

It's not bad form for anyone to ask a player to be a bit better, even D Lo. I love his passion. Remember Dwight Hardy. He found a way to get that ball when we needed him to.

Who knows.. maybe i'm way off base and the coaching staff was looking at doing something else.
