On the bright side. . .

It'll hopefully be November before we have to hear again from the d-bags who hide during winning streaks and miraculously appear during losses.

I wish I could see a bright side for next year! Someone help me out here!!!!!!

They've still got a week or two left in them. Plus I'll bring me back with an April Fools' post about Lavin either resigning or getting extended.

Or hiring a redmen poster as an assistant.

The bright side is that we have a lot of experience and "talent" coming back. This group, as flawed as it is, has more upside than Norm's last team had, and that team went to the NCAA. I am hopeful that next year, with some lessons learned, the core comes back HUNGRY and want to prove themselves. Also, Jordan will be a soph, and I expect BIG things form him. With Harrison, that could t=be one of the country's best backcourts. The frontcourt has more ???? but I think we will be OK> Probably another season of ups and downs, but I think we can be better and I think we will be. Not perfect, but better.

Perhaps we need to see who cones back & who is added. At SJU, always count on the unexpected.

What do you expect to happen this offseason?

What i expect to happen is something bizarre that couldn't be expected on almost any other team.
With us, you have to expect you will be surprised, probably stunned, and certainly exasperated.
Aside a few things like mediocre foul shooting, defense of the three, and rebounding, nothing is predictable.

I would not be shocked if a player or two left, quite the norm today. A coaching change at assistant level would not surprise me & obviously, with one exception, recruits & transfers are unknown to date. With those areas defined, I feel I can better gauge the prognosis for next year.

Btw, in no way am I implying a major player will leave. If a complementary guy left, that is consistent with the game today & could be likely compensated for.

what I would like to see, is for one of the players to become a leader. I haven't observed anyone filling that role, maybe because they haven't had a role model, since most of them came in together. Harrison would seem to be the most likely, but last night as he has most of the year, goes into a funk if things aren't falling his way. Would be great to see a someone keep Pointer, Sampson of Obekpa in line when they lose it or get in someone's face when they are dogging it.

Not excusing Lavin, but it is part of the problem of recruiting so many players at once. None of them are natural leaders.

Opening Day is in less than two weeks. Oh wait, I hope that the fact it is on April 1st isn't a harbinger of things to come.

I wanted to see the talent all season...our "talented" team was a catch phrase on this board and in the Fox Sports studio all season long. I didn't see it. Jordan is the one undeniable talent and will play at the next level despite the lack of coaching he is receiving at the collegiate level. Sampson and Harrison have tools but need (needed) a real Division 1 college basketball coaching staff, which we do not offer. I'd love to see them rise above that, and maybe next year they will. I doubt the school will make any changes with Lavin, and I expect him to get that multi year extension. What I'm hoping for is a house cleaning of assistant coaches. If they had any value at all, we would have seen it by now.

Funny, I could swear I've heard that before.

I was just thinking this as I was reading the board this morning. There are really people like this and it's sad.

Overall capability aside, you have to like his attitude. Suspect Lavin promised him more time if he can convince his roomie to stick around a while. Kidding.

@maxthehooper: Thank you to all the #SJUBB fans who supported us this season. It was quite a ride! The future is bright without a doubt.

I would love to see more playing time for him next year, providing we figure out how to set high screens for him.
