Old Dominion, Fri. Nov. 25, 9:30pm, AXS/570AM-B4A

0 wins and 4 losses in this Tournament..

Each of the 4 losses were winnable.

No way to spin anything good from the last 4 games in this tournament.

It was a 3 game tourney. We were in every game. We were the least physical of the teams in the tourney and were out coached in every game. No shock here but last year we lose all 3 games by 20+ points.

Assuming Lovett and Ponds stay awhile, everyone's favorite recruiter should only be looking at bigs for next couple years

I really don't want to take this out on Freudenberg, but instead of traveling thousands of miles to recruit another one dimensional player like Mussini, perhaps the staff could have found a 6'8 banger with a defender and rebounder's mentality. Freudenberg better work on his handle, because he belongs in the back court since he can't handle anyone in the paint. Before anyone says it, the answer was not CJ. I just hope the staff is working on addressing this problem, because this is worse than The Greco.

Yes. And last year we would not have almost closed a 16-point deficit to a team that took Louisville to OT the night before.

Backcourt? Mussini is quicker and more athletic than him. If open Mussini can shoot. At this point not sure what RF's dimension is. Again not his fault he is in no way prepared to play at this stage. But some of you keep throwing his name out there.

Until this team learns to bring it for 40 and play. Team ball on both ends we will continue to struggle. Lovett will be double teamed all year. All that dribbling isn't gonna fly. Hopefully they get him off the ball some.

Ponds shot wasn't there tonight and that hurt us. Could be that he is tired from leading the team in rebounds.

Not many want to understand it just takes time; a lot of "couldas" the last four games, classic half empty / half full scenario depending on whether you just root blindly or understand the reality. No team or coach looks very good when your top 3 players shoot 12 for 36 and 3 for 18 from three with more TOs than assists. Me, I'm half full.

Very soft team that showed little effort and didn't have a plan. No way to spin this one.

We do not belong running a pro style offense.

I think Mullin is looking long term to the kind of program style he wants to have but I do agree an inexperienced team like this and an untalented team like last years looks horrible running the pro offense. Tough dilemma but not uncommon for a new coach.

Now that my klonopin kicked in, I guess we aren't THAT bad.. Honestly we were in every game against good/very good competition.. The next few games should be easy wins.. SHOULD be.. The only thing is to be successful, I think Ellison needs to be 8/9th man in the rotation. He just isn't good.. We need to realize that we are a very young team.. Just some freshmen and sophomores..These games will help us in January and February when the team should be peaking :p

Just being facetious about the back court. Maybe I need to be more clear: Freudenberg cannot guard power forwards in division 1. That means his liabilities as a defender will negate his supposed positives as an offensive threat. He is young and will get better. Just seems like all 6'9 of him will go to waste if he has to play defense against power forwards.

It's obvious that we are not going to get any offense from our big men, however they were outrebounded by Taylor (17) boards to Yakwe (3) , Sima (4) and Owens (6).
Is it me or does the opposition get open three pointers while we struggle to get our three pointers off?.

ODU outscored St. John's 35-11 on the interior.  We were out rebounded 54-35 and ODU is not a big team.    Sima, Yakwe and Owens are getting their asses kicked.  Both Sima and Yakwe  looked better last year because our team was the worst in recent history.  They are great high jumpers and would be great in track and field.  Both have terrible foot work and primitive offensive moves.  There is a reason string bean Owens is getting minutes.  I will regurgitate my Ellison criticism  by saying any time he is in the game we are down to 4 players against 5.  You can't coach your team out of these disadvantages, you recruit to replace your marginal D1 players.  As poorly as our talented freshman Shamorie Ponds shot, this loss was not on the coaching or the guards. They need to score for us to be in any games.  Lovett has to do a little less shake and baking and trying to split defenders on almost every play however.
That said, as bad as we played against a well coached team we were in it at the end and once Bashir, Shamorie and Marcus learn to work better together and take higher percentage shots we will be beating teams on the level of the teams that handed us 4 losses.

Yeah because we don't pass the ball or move it around. (Every interview in game or post game Mullin keeps saying we got too move the ball). We never drive and kick.

well we manage to lose one outside of a Tournament but if we had four game we would find a way

We were favored by 1 point tonight.

The prior 3 games we were underdogs, but still had roughly a 30%-40% chance to win each game. You figure chances are you'll win one of those, or at worst lose one by a point or two.

So really no excuse to go 0-4.

With Butler's win, 4/10 Big East teams should be in the top 15 by Monday. Us and DePaul are the only ones not experiencing success. Marquette hasn't been good in the new Big East, but they have much better history since the early 2000s.

We are underperforming this season, there's no way around that. 3-3 would be fine at this point, but we have 4 losses and we deserved to lose all 4.
