Official 2014-2015 Schedule Thread

We have a history of losing games like the Minnesota game, which is winnable for sure. I don't think with this team that Georgia would be a cakewalk either if we don't win our first game.

This isn't terrible, I guess. Minnesota and Gonzaga were the teams we wanted to play against, so i guess it's good we don't have to fend off mid majors to play against them.

Bottom line is that if we play Minnesota and Gonzaga, then we play St. Mary's, Syracuse, and Duke, with 2 games against Nova, Xavier, and Georgetown, this schedule should be top 40 easily. We will have opportunities we just have to execute.

More importantly for SOS and RPI, both the Minnesota and Gonzaga games would be on a neutral court and the Syracuse game would be on the road. 3-0 in those games could catapult the team into an elite SOS and RPI ranking.

Is MSG considered "neutral" court? Would be odd, considering that we play half our home games there.

For the RPI they are considered neutral court games the same as if they were played in Puerto Rico or Alaska. It's up the the fans to turn it into a real home court advantage. I can't imagine either of those schools traveling well.

Expect some small crowds for these games.

Franklin Pierce is a D2 school from New Hampshire. Did win 21 games, including one in the Division 2 NCAA tournament last year, FWIW:

Complete tournament schedule (and kudos to Georgia for not caving in to play a D2 team):

I hate it. They could very well be a good team but no matter what it wont count as a win. 31 games is huge, 20-11 is so much better than 19-11

@NYPost_Brazille: Hearing St. John's will release entire schedule Tuesday now, no non-conference today. #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Also hearing Big East schedule release September 9.

Heard twice we will open BE schedule at Seton Hall on New Year's Eve. We'll see if true today.

Looks like I got my wish by hoping we would start the season at Seton Hall. I'm already recruiting for a road trip ;)

Not for nothing, but if we want to have a good Big East record this year, we need to be ready out of the gate (unlike last years). Starting with the game Valentine's Day against Xavier, and going pretty much straight through to the end, will be some rough sledding. Definitely a back-loaded conference schedule.

Here's a change I don't like. Last year, you met every conference team once, before you played anyone a second time. Not the case this year (we have a 5 game stretch in February where Xavier and Georgetown make up 4 of our games). Wish they would go back to last year's format, but I guess FOX does not want that.

Three very tough games to end the year. If we're on the bubble that could be rough sledding. I don't think we'll see more than 18 or 19 wins. Hope I'm wrong. The Big East is weaker and younger than last year. I just hope I'm wrong.

We snubbed seton hall this year with a game at carnesecca arena. Probably has to do with the whitehead recruiting controversy

That's a mid-afternoon Saturday game, too. A snowstorm would be the only excuse for us not to fill the place that day, (and maybe throw in some taunts the Pirates' way, as well). Make it a real home court advantage.
