I know we are in the offseason and it is often a boring time for us redmen fans. But we should start talking about our schedule for next year. Talk about what teams you would like to see us play, if anyone has inside info on teams we might play, and we can also talk about teams we already know we are playing.

VS San Francisco
VS Syracuse
VS Ole Miss/ Penn St/ Georgia Tech

I believe that is all we know so far about non-conference, let me know if I missed anything

Very true lol I need something to talk about I saw on Johnny Jungle that we are going out west for game. I really hope it is either UNLV, Gonzaga, Stanford, California, and more than anything I want to play Oregon.
 
Having less conference opponents gives us a lot more flexibility with who we schedule for non conference games. I wouldn't be surprised if Lavin set up another west coast trip.

Oh yeah, that would be awesome. Also is there going to be a SEC/BigEast Challenge or is that over now that we only have 10 teams?

Thanks, it will be interesting to see who Lavin schedules in the future.
 
I'd love a tough west coast game at Gonzaga. We are due for a win against them. I am borderline vehemently against a "trip." Much to the dismay of those who want to go wine tasting and enjoy the sites for 4 days, a 2-game wet coast trip is asking for trouble. We saw how hard it is to win in those small west coast gyms last year, I don't want to go 0-2 out there.
 
Oklahoma St. looking too, but they may be too specific in their requests.

If my brain hasn't gone totally to mush now that I am prehistoric and over 40, wouldn't that be interesting for DLo. I seem to remember them being pretty damn hacked off and vocal about his decision when he chose us.
 
I would like to see them play Ohio, Michigan, Florida Gators and of course UCLA.

IDK why but ever since our first game against UCLA in the Steve Lavin era, I have develop a small hatred for UCLA.
 
I'd like to see a road game in Texas. We have 3 Texas recruits on our roster and are targeting one that I know of for '14. Would help in establishing a pipeline. We played Baylor already so maybe UT, although UT struggles to draw a nice crowd.

I'd also like to schedule a team in the B1G. That would help our RPI. Maybe a home & home against a quality team like Illinois.
 
While I know money talks, if it were my call I would not schedule a single ACC opponent, bad enough we already have Syracuse on the slate. I would play someone from the AAC before scheduling an ACC school. Why not Memphis, Temple, or major schools from other conferences? Kansas, Florida, Maryland (we should reward them for leaving the ACC), or some of the others that people have mentioned like Ohio St, Texas, or even schools that have recently made noise on the national scene, like VCU. I just hate the idea of doing anything that will benefit the ACC no matter how much it may also benefit us. Hell, lets reach out to UConn LOL.

I think a four day trip out west could be a great thing. Don't forget that road wins really help the RPI. It's also great to get the guys some time to gel together on a road trip where they are forced to be togther 24/7 :) I also think that learning to win with several factors against you helps down the road: on the road, quick turnaround between games, jet-lagged, hostile environments, etc. Anyone can do well at home with everything in their favor, but at some point most teams will have to pull it out when something is off.

Yeah someone dug it up when people complain about scheduling. Its not easy as 1-2-3 as these schools have specific demands and requirements. We were on there in years past.

It's actually very interesting that this information is made available to the public. Not only what teams are looking and who they're looking for, but also the specific requests they're asking of a potential match up.
