Off Season Activity

Sima.....was a pick machine. Though, they didn't run one play for him. He's in good shape running up and down the court,, but seems very soft rebounding...not fighting off box outs etc. Spain was probably up about ten while he was on the court. He did keep France out of the paint most of the time he was in.

Does it seem like he's bulked-up at all?
Thanks in advance.

Maybe that's how we have to use him. We have plenty of guys that can score. Split time with Owens.

I think he scored over 7 points and had over 5 boards per game last year in addition to his blocked shots. He was used very well. I am looking for him to go 10 and 7 this season if healthy in comparable minutes.

Sima was making very good progress until he suffered the injury last season and seemed to regress a bit after he came back. It seemed like he struggled to get back into the flow of things.

I am looking for him to be healthy and to continue to make good progress next season. I think that 10 and 7 is a reasonable goal for him to achieve along with a few blocks as a rim protector.

I WOULD HOPE HE GOES FOR MORE THAN 7 less would be disappointing

I think of Sima in terms of Ochefu. Ochefu is a guy who made small contributions as an underclassman and continued to develop. As an upperclassman Chef had refined that hook shot he took while moving across the lane. I actually think SIma is more athletic and further along than Chef was at this point. Sima could become one of the best big men in the BE as a junior and senior.

Personally, in the short term, I am just as excited about Owens.

In his second game;
Eurohopes – ‏@Eurohopes

U20 EC Div.A: Italy 89 Belgium 64 (Diego Flaccadori ('96) 16pt+6as Federico Mussini ('96) 13pt+4rb; Sigfredo Casero Ortiz ('97) 13pt)

He needs to improve upon his 39% free throw shooting as well. Ochefu shot around 69% his last two years.

Sima hit his fouls shots today...maybe 6 of 7 or something like that. He's soft rebounding. he doesn't grab contested rebounds and tips them. His finger was taped yesterday and today.

Any relation to former poster No Hope ? Like step brother or something ?

Former Lav recruit btw;

Rumble In The Garden – ‏@rumbleSBN

Lauri Markkanen with the go-ahead tip in to win it for Finland. Sima finishes with 16 pts. #sjubb

No relation. Just hopeful, but don't count on big improvement from Moose or Sima. It's not evident yet from yesterday and today's games. And I like both of them. And lobster rolls too!

When your FG% is better than your FT% that is mental.

Also, I think his % was better before he hurt his hand. His form is good. If he can develop a consistent ritual and not think about it along with better conditioning/physical maturity, he could improve that dramatically.

That is where you and I differ greatly. Sima was a 3* recruit who performed well as a freshman especially when considering he was hurt. If he gets 7 boards a game as a sophomore it will be a 25% improvement which in my books would be great. Don't expect him to be a 4 or 5 star player but rather look for realistic improvement from the players we have as opposed to wanting them to be players we hoped to get. If he improves his numbers 25% a year he will be a first round pick.

I don't think his form on shooting was good. It comes awkwardly out of his hand. He's late to game - as in learning how to play, and it shows. But hopefully he's athletic enough that he can adapt. Fortunately the shot/jump shot is one of the skills can most often improve.

Not saying he is bad but feel he should be a work in progress with ability.would like it better we had a more skilled center now and he was a back-up Think he needs a lot of work which is ok if he could be back up and leaning. He seems a bid stiff ,mobility right now not up to starting BE center and needs better power moves on the rim and 1st step foot speed just MO
