Obekpa leaving?

Personally, I'm sick of all this transfer/NBA crap. There isn't a guy on this roster that can't be completely replaced by a JUCO next season.
We are fcking 0-5 and have a roster filled with a bunch of divas.
If Jordan is going to transfer after how Lavin pumped him up to the entire world and gave him the keys to the car, let him go. He's been given every opportunity. I'd love for him to stay but we can't have guys with Michael Jordan egos that don't have the games to match.

I like Obekpa as well. He has to adjust and work his butt off to get better in man to man this year, but has tremendous upside and unimpeded minutes next season. If he transfers and sits out, he can all but kiss his NBA career goodbye unless he shows CONSIDERABLE improvement. What NBA team wants a 23 year old 6'7.5 PF without any discernible offensive skill that doesn't dominate the glass? The last thing he needs is to throw in another question mark with a transfer. Bust your arse for another year and sell high.

Man, do I miss players like Erick Barkley who actually played like an NBA prospect.

This is so frustrating for everyone, even the more positive an even-keeled people on here. Despite the late game failures, we are so close to being a winning team. Possibly one big piece short, but probably just one or two guys that start coming up big when the game is on the line. Looking at our record, it's kind of crazy to think there was only one unwinnable game at the 4 minute mark of any game. It's almost insane that our record doesn't reflect that at all.

Stating the obvious, but well coached, prepared teams close out games more often than not.

No doubt at that, but we are reacting like this is a wheels falling off situation, and the difference between this being a winning team and where they are now is much smaller than we think. When you get down to it, that's why so many people are ticked off

I completely agree that the difference is small. I really believe it is as simple as a few guys not devoted to doing the dirty work--the kind of stuff that keeps possessions alive on offense and earns you possessions on the over end.

Teams that are relentless on the offensive glass don't go through huge scoring droughts. Teams that defend, rebound, and go all out for lose balls don't let opponents go on big runs or streaks.

It would be crazy to make a decision to leave now. Wait until season is over and moves are potentially made before getting it in your head to leave four months prematurely.

All of what you said is true, but I'll give you one additional, even bigger reason: BELIEVE.

Joe Montana had it - the swagger and confidence that made him believe that as long as the ball was in his hands, his team would win. He lived for those moments, and came through when it mattered most.

I won't name the guys who have failed in that situation, but there are many.

I don't think at this point these guys BELIEVED they were going to win any of those games. Now would be a GREAT time to start BELIEVING in themselves. The rest will take care of itself if that happens.

Putting aside their on the court contributions, or lack thereof, if kids start transferring out after this less than stellar season if will not bode well for Lavin's rep and the state of the program. Especially kids likely CO and Jordan, who were both big names coming out of high school. I do not want anyone of consequence transferring out even if Lavin can find adequate replacements for them.

Lavin indicates Christian Jones grew 3 inches during his redshirt and is approaching 6'9. His backup, Ndays, is gaining weight and has been impressive in practices and he is a good listener. Prized big man recruit Adonis DelLaSlowPoke will be the starting center......at Fordham.
We are......Fordham!

Sorry I guess I am always looking for the LOL But did know kid did grow a few ins in HS so it was not totally impossible.

Jason Williams was 6'5" coming out of Christ The King and grew to 6"11" by his senior year. It can happen.

More inane comments from Aristotle on Chris;

@KieranDarcy: St. John's beat Dartmouth last night -- my #sjubb column on what it means, if anything:http://t.co/YF7Ns5VVaK

Wow, that quote really pisses me off.

Jim Boeheim post game interviews make Lav's comments look innocent and Jim actually says what he says after winning a ton of games in a row. An ambiguous question about " searching" for one's identity in a sport is a loaded question and I would have loved that question addressed to Jim. LOL!

Maybe schools that were after CO are glad we got him and they didn't

But aside from that CO would have flourished with a team that had better offensive options and better outside shooter.

Obekpa isn't leaving the school, that would be insane for him to do. unless Myles Turner commits here, he will be here..so will Sampson, and so will Jordan

Obekpa dose not sound like a guy who is leaving see Redstormsports.com Storm Tracker. So once again someone told someone etc etc.

Did you expect him to sound like someone leaving?

He was close to leaving last year, so I have no doubt a crappy season will push him further to the edge.
What many people don't understand is it's not NBA or bust for these guys. Many of them know their future is the D-league or Europe, and they'd like to get paid sooner rather than later.

Maybe he was leaving but then he blocked it.
