Norvel Pelle

I take that as a good sign.

I think the fear from SJU perspective was that if he went back west he would not come back. He would either go prep or JUCO out west and then find a college out west after he gained eligiblity.

I think this is a sign he is committed to trying to get into SJU.

We need this kid very badly. Hope he and Amir can join us in DEC. Worry that Ncaa after screwing us once will not be willing to reverse that decision a scant 3 months later but believe me i am hoping against hope.

Pretty sure release said he will be prepping for the entire year. So December seems like it won't be possible.

"I'm back on the market, which I just found out," Pelle told AztecSportsReport.com on Thursday afternoon. "So it's my opportunity to go to different schools."

Which he just found out????

He's always willing to go the extra mile for somebody he truly cares about.

I take this as a shot at STJ.

Lets pack up and move on. I'm tired of dealing with these guys.

Sounds like we did the decommiting.

we won't know since no comments are permitted w/ Norvel again a "recruit." Maybe the staff will do a "look-see" to check if Norvel progresses the 1st and 2nd quarter. If he does, some effort will be made. If not, other big men will be pursued. I responded to Norvel's comments on Zagblog because the logic didn't fit SDSU, it fit St. John's current status more.

Not so sure about that. Then why not pack up and head back home where he seemingly wanted to be for awhile.

As soon as the news broke that these kids did not qualify, I had a feeling they would never play for us. All this shows is a tremendous immaturity by both Sampson and Pelle. Just like they took a chance on St. John's, the school took a chance on them. Both were considered on the border of qualifying, but we offered them anyhow due to their skill level. Now, after failing to qualify, it is easier for both of them to turn their backs on our university despite the fact (a) St. John's worked hard to get them eligible (b) our season is probably a lost cause because of them. I don't care if you're 18 or 70, your word is your bond and if it is so easy to turn your back on it, it speaks volumes.

I wish both of these kids happiness and success and really hope it all works out for them. But the fact that they can so easily turn a blind eye to our school speaks volumes for their character.

Honestly the second he was declared ineligible the LOI and verbal are nothing. So he was never really ours after that. I'm guessing someone made him aware that technically he wasn't bound to STJ and was 'back on the market'.

The roller coaster continues.. Zags now reporting that Pelle was misquoted in article and is still commited to St john's according to Pelle's sister.

Wow. Did someone play a joke on someone here? Completely contrived quotes??

Here is the thing. If Pelle really wanted to go back west (home) why in the hell would he prep in the east close to where he went to summer school (Philly) and where he is still set to go to college (SJU)? There are plenty of prep schools out west.
