NIT

Tomorrow at 10 AM. Cheapest seats are $25. An absolute joke and anyone who pays that price to see a first round NIT game vs an NEC team needs to get their head examined.

So I'll put you down as a maybe??

If I didn't live an hour and a half away and have to work til 6:30 then I'd actually probably be there. I'm one of the people that needs their head examined.

Same here. Even though I'm also disgusted with how we finished these last couple of weeks after the hole we dug, I will watch our NIT games and I hope we win this thing. It is a consolation prize, but I'm glad we're still playing. Nothing bad comes from playing more competitive games and building more confidence heading into next year.

If I remember correctly I was at an NIT game against Oak State or Virginia and we had recruit Tyler Jones in the house on a visit and the whole student section started chanting Tyler Jones Tyler Jones!

If thats true thats pretty pathetic. And we wonder why we cant build a large fan base

If tickets were free do you think it would be a sell out?

big time fan I see!

I'm a season ticket holder and made it to 16 games this year despite living and working 75 miles from campus. Missed 3 total home games from 2008-2013. I'm a fan of the team and school, not of our clueless administration setting ticket prices at absurd levels. To be fair though, the NCAA may regulate NIT prices. In comparison you could go to Wednesday's Nets game for 9 dollars, fees included, if you buy on Stubhub.

On campus? I sure as hell would hope so

Wouldn't even be close to a sell-out if tickets were free. Even if you paid every fan 5 dollars I don't think you'd be able to fill the place for an NIT game vs Robert Morris.

And that's a huge problem

Cheapest student tickets are $25 ????

Student tickets are $5.

That's $5 too much
NIT = Not In Tournament
Having said that, I will watch the game (Tues @ 7 PM on ESPNU) and root as hard for the Johnnies as I always do
They mentioned that St John's has won the most NIT championships in history - not sure if that's a good or bad thing
One thing that pissed me off during the NCAA Selection Show was when they said that G'town (17-14) was one of the first four teams out
But, they only got a 4 seed in the NIT - go figure
Surprised that teams like Marquette, Maryland and Indiana didn't make the NIT

Why do you guys expect tickets for the NIT to be any cheaper than a regular season game vs Bucknell or Monmouth!?

Because at least then the game meant something toward our NCAA tournament resume. Now it's a game in a second rate dead-end tournament that hasn't been relevant in over 40 years.

$5 to see a live college game vs. $12 to see a movie. It may be relatively meaningless, but can someone here give a chronology of how NIT champsions did the following season as far as getting an ncaa bid?

Regardless of what tournament it is, it is post season basketball. You will be getting a much more quality game then going to see a Monmouth, Bucknell or Longwood in November, which honestly don't mean much of anything for a NCAA resume anyway. Our exhibition games were not any cheaper either, did those count?

If we lose vs. Monmouth, our NCAA Tournament hopes would effectively be over because of that game. If we lose against Robert Morris in the NIT, our NCAA Tournament hopes still would have ended last Thursday vs. Providence. As far as the exhibitions go, those should have lower prices too. Actually, all of our games should have lower prices. Maybe not the entire arena lower but have the upper corners that are usually empty be family sections and offer 5 dollar tickets. That's how you grow a fanbase.

Games in November usually don't make or break your resume. In 2011 we lost to both Fordham and St. Bonaventure. I believe we had another bad loss that year too. I just don't think it's fair to expect different prices for the same product, if not better.
With that said i agree completely that they should make tickets cheaper in the upper bowl at MSG. Five dollars may be a little unrealistic but i think a $15-$20 price range should be fair enough. I also think they could do something about the group rates. I think I'm wrong with the exact number but I think it's like a group of 20 and you get your ticket at a lower rate. I feel if they modify this idea to a group of 5 or 10 it could even improve our attendance.

I hope everyone will get to the second game if it's Green Bay. That will be a good game. I'd definitely go if I lived anywhere close.

I hope they have a great crowd. Some of these posts are crazy. We blew it this year, we had the team and things just didn't work out. We didn't make the NCAA Tournament. It is now in the past. The NIT is where we are going. For the people who are still lamenting a terrible finish, there is nothing we can do about it now. We can however, get behind the team and cheer for them. They are our team! So much whining and puking, my goodness it is frigon basketball. Not the end of the world.
