Next Coach?

I'm sure most would disagree with me, but I'd take Cluess over B Hurley any day of the week and twice on Sunday's.

Because?

Longer record of sustained success. Has won everywhere he's been. Team plays exciting basketball.

Cluess is a solid candidate, but I'm not sure his formula will work at a higher level. .

You may have a point if he hasn't won EVERYWHERE.

St. Mary's HS - took a crappy program and had them ranked nationally in the top 5.
Suffolk County CC - coached 2 years I believe and had them in the national championships.
Post - reversed a mediocre program and won something lie 75% of his games there.
Iona - forget what he inherited. Look what he sustained.

Win. Win. Win. He's a winner. period.

So let me get this straight. You want St. John's to pick a winner?

Essentially, I think. :)

Maybe St. John's only seems to be moving too slowly. They aren't moving slow at all if they are not targeting B.Hurl. . .

Interesting mention of possible change in Texas for Marshall. If that happens I wonder if Barnes would be in play for us.

I think Alabama is screwed. If Marshall leaves, I think Texas gets the nod over any other openings.

Dunlap! As far as I know he is not working! I would take him in a heart beat over Whitesell! He would be a great compliment to Lavin.

1) this is like the eighth unessecary thread in the last two days. That's like a redmen.com record

2) Dunlap has a head coaching job in his favorite place to live, California. He will never come back to New York.

Jeff Goodman ESPN NEWS:

Lot of instablity in the program

Lot of second chance kids

With starters graduating not a bad time to make a move.

According to Goodman SJU should look at Danny Hurley and Mass from Manhattan

Didn't think Mullin and Jackson were where SJU should look initially

According to Goodman, SJU needs someone to come in and work hard. Said according to his sources Lav didn't work as hard a some.

:) Insider word is that the next coach will be Slim Pickins.

Just what I needed. I will now think of SJU hoops with the image of Slim Pickens either riding the A- bomb in Dr. Strangelove or trying to not walk ahead of Hedley Lamar in Blazing Saddles. From the tournament to theater of the absurd.

ok IMHO if we don't land a blockbuster guy like HOF Chris Mullin, than at the very least it HAS to be rising Miller or a Hurley. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't tell me we fired Lavin for Mass or some other lower tier guy.

Michael Kay says St. John's should persue Rick Pitino with bick buck offer.
