New York Mets 2025 Season

Disagree. Didn’t have his stuff means ball wasn’t moving as usual as in breaking pitches. Didn’t have command of his pitches refers to putting it where he wants it even though ball is moving. No biggie though.

That is all under the umbrella of command. If you can't make a ball spin the way you want, you aren't commanding it. If you can't locate it, same thing.

He couldn't throw his curveball and was missing with other pitches early to the tune of 3 walks. If that is not command, I don't now what is.

AKA…the 2026 call up to “save the season”. 😅

Sproat starting in Cincinnati is a tough spot for a guy making his debut. I like it but his results have been a bit of a roller coaster. I like it though and will cross my fingers that he’s sharp. They obviously believe in him.

Location and stuff are 2 different things but if you want to put them under the same umbrella that's fine with me. Maybe instead of pitching they can play power forward. 🤪 ;):)

I'll hold onto this for when Helsley walks 4 straight..."man, his stuff looks amazing." 😆
Then he would lack command but he had his stuff because his ball was moving. See it’s simple. 😂 When Edwin Diaz came to Mets at first he couldn’t find the plate but his ball had plenty of movement. Obviously you need both to be successful. We are arguing semantics. 🤪

AJ Ewing batting .391 in AA now in his age 20 year. He's going to finish with north of 70 steals (currently at 69) and great defense in center field. He keeps this up and he is in play for a callup next year along with Benge, Jett, and Clifford.

Did a deep dive on him last week. He doesn't really have the projectability GMs want, but maybe he can be a guy that just knows how to pitch and gets it done. He's going to have to earn everything he gets.
Seems like good trade bait next deadline for the new guy everyone hates out of the pen

He also also play 2nd base. He feels like a McNeil replacement for 2027 (when we decline his option).

Stuff refers to speed and/ or movement of pitches.

Control refers to the ability to throw pitches for strikes.

Command refers to the ability to throw pitches where you want within and just off of the strike zone.

The three are not the same.

A pitcher can have control but not command because he is throwing strikes but cannot locate it in the zone.

A pitcher can have good stuff but no control or command and has no idea where the ball is going.

I don’t watch the Mets a lot but from what I am hearing and reading, using Senga as an example, his control is okay however his stuff and command are not there.
