New York Mets 2025 Season

The Mets have had a need for another lefty out of the pen for what feels like years. Raley and now Gregory Soto gives them options. Is Soto the “right” lefty is the question? He’s been great against lefty bats but the three batter minimum rule may expose him a little.

The price is right to see what they can get out of him. It’s a decent start to the deadline but they still need to be aggressive in the bullpen. The pen still includes names like Rico Garcia and Jose Castillo. Good news is that Will Sammon of the Athletic says Mets will remain heavily in bullpen market.

Gary Cohen mentioned that his .OPS went over .800 for the first time this season. He started slowly but he’s been very good for a long stretch.
When Nimmo is going really well he uses the entire field, routinely slashing line drives down the line in left or through the hole on the left side of the infield. At the same time he will jump on pitches that he can pull and crushes them. McNeil does the same with less power. It's one of those intricacies in baseball that a hitter's swing goes bad to good and back. But those two guys are at their best when they go with the pitch.

Diaz barely holds the lead in ninth as Giants hit 3 rockets off of him one just missing a home run high off the wall that wound up a double. Last out was a shot that was a leaping catch by the first basemen Pete Alonzo.

The Edwin Diaz experience is an adventure. Always.

Mets beat the two best pitchers Webb and Ray on consecutive nights. Good stuff.

Alonzo's fielding at 1st is another reason for Mets to resign him. He has saved infielders a number of errors this season (and probably a number of wins) with his glove.

Streaky team with some warts, but contending. All we can ask.
This describes almost every “contender” in baseball including the Dodgers. At the start of the season people were calling them one of the “best ever”. I mean they might be the best team but they have been “meh” for quite some time. Still good but hardly great.

Mets are right there with all of them and any of the contenders can get hot and win the whole thing. Just goes to show, in professional sports you just don’t know.

Nothing is guaranteed in life. That being said enjoying this team would like them to add a great starter, another bullpen arm, along with another bat. I feel Winker will do something for them when he gets back.
