New York Mets 2025 Season

Going to the Cyclones game today.

Been to several Minor League games in the past. Salt Lake Bees had the most scenic park.

Saw a Bingo at Harrisburg game stadium was overrun by “Mayflies” off the Susquehanna River. Yuck. Insect guts all over. We caught deGrom and I called him a “future” closer. Son won’t let me forget. Proves I’m no scout.

Last one was a Savannah Sand Gnats game. None other than Brandon Nimmo starting CF. He just passed 1,000 games. Not bad. Best memory there was meeting a kid with a St. John’s tshirt at the concession stand at Grayson Stadium. It was Frank Violas’ family. He was the pitching Coach at Savannah that year.

Besides these anyone see any minor league games they liked or are worth seeing?

The independent New Jersey Jackals play at Montclair State U. - about 15-20 minutes from MetLife Stadium.

Nice ballpark but the real draw there is the Yogi Berra Museum - a celebration of his life, that era of Yankees, Dodgers, Giants and a nice section on his time as coach and manager of the Mets. He lived in Montclair for most of his life.

Got back from the Cyclones game. Very family friendly environment. Got in, did the Nathan’s thing and headed to the Park. Cyclones pitcher Noah Hall looked good to me . He threw 7 innings of 2 hit ball and Cyclones took the “W”. Suero got the big rbi double. Game lasted an even 2 hours. Highly recommend it to take in a game.

One thing I was tracking Mets game in my phone. Weird that Cyclones don’t give update of Mets game. I mean, obviously a good number of people and nuts like me were tracking the game.

Tong looked good yesterday. I like this kid. When I saw him the size of his legs stood out. I didn’t realise he was Canadian. He has hockey player legs.

For the horrible June they had, the opportunity to still be in first going into the AS break and lack of consistent hitting, I’d say if you told me this in spring training I would say I like our chances the rest of the way.
And Manaea not having a single start + Kodai out for half of it, and all our bullpen injuries, including Minter. I think it’s fantastic

It would be crazy to identify how many innings have been eaten by guys no one knew or guys just picked up on the fly. The Mets have used over 35 or so pitchers this season. It’s ridiculous and probably too much work to figure out. 😂

Tough one. Guy on the Royals had a good AB and then won the game with speed.

Game sort of highlights the trading deadline needs. Too many games the offense goes to sleep. We need a boost somewhere. Part of the solution can be Alvarez if he can get himself together. I no longer am counting on Winker. Acuna ain’t it. Hope we can find someone.

Of course, bullpen help remains on top of the list. With the return of Manaea and Senga I feel better about the starters. Then again if someone pops loose you have to consider everything.

Any draft thoughts? Most fans I have seen comment were underwhelmed/confused with our strategy.

We fell 10 spots for spending and lost a pick for Soto.

Our first pick was a 2 way player but really excelled with the bat once he focused on it. His contact rate is amazing. He has a strong arm so can likely play 3rd or OF.

We took a couple of kids that need surgery for their arms this year. They seemed to go after athletes they think can improve with some focus or pitchers with weapons they can harness with the pitching lab.

I guess time will tell if our player development is any good.

Its hard for me to have any thoughts since I don't really follow it and it all seems like a crapshoot. None of the experts called us a loser, which is good. I do think they seem to really like two-way players and college guys.

This is a helpful tracker someone at SNY makes every year.

Billy Beane was drafted #1 by the Mets.
Mike Piazza was Mr Irrevelant, and only as a favor to Tommy Lasorda.

I think your thoughts on this matter are as pertinent as the experts’.

Nothing really stands out since we had just one pick in the top 100. Going after the TJ surgery arms was a clever way to build back some higher ceiling guys.

We’ve had a lot of success with two-way players once they commit to one side. Hopefully our first pick follows suit.
