New York Mets 2025 Season

If someone told me last October that Vientos would be pinch hit for Travis Jankowski in an extra inning game with two guys on base, I’d think you’re on crack.
Also, Torrens who was so clutch early in the season looks just like Alvarez did right before they sent him down. He can’t buy a hit.

Back in first. If the lower 1/3rd of the order could wake up (or be improved at the deadline), coupled with the return of the staff, we could make a serious run. Just too many black holes in the lineup at the moment to be consistent.

Still hoping that either Winker can provide some pop whenever he returns, we add one reliable bat at the deadline, or 2024 Vientos somehow shows up.

Because while I love our top 4, relying on them to win us every game offensively is shaky ground to stand on. I remember when we knocked out the Phillies last year, a big reason was no one in their lineup beyond the Turner/Schwarber/Harper/Castellanos heart of the order that was even remotely scary, and it allowed our starters to go deeper into games. It was like you could exhale for innings where the middle or bottom of order was due up. Then we got to LA and they had dudes like Edman or Kike Hernandez low in their order who were more than capable of killing us

I agree with Harper obviously.

However, this was not the full story tonight. The bottom of the lineup (Mauricio and Baty) were 3-8 with 2 runs scored. The Mauricio HR tied the game and up to that point the offense was sleep walking.
Our big bats are starting all hit together again, Baty and Mauricio are showing life, we’re getting Senga and Manaea back and we’re tied for first place. Win these last two series before the All-Star break and then continue to get healthy and we’ll be fine.

Even Mean Gene is optimistic, I don’t know whether to be excited or scared ;)

First of all, I'm a big Mets fan and an Alonzo fan. Where would the Mets be this season if management let Alonzo walk and sign with another team? I think he has been crucial to the Mets success this season. Any thoughts?
