New York Mets 2025 Season

Feels like the Senga injury took the wind out of our sails and the vibes are bad again. The ebbs and flows of a baseball season. Really sucks to not get that win tonight. Now up against Sale tomorrow.

Mets played about as dumb a game possible for a ML team.

Soto and Alonso with base running from the Benny Hill show, music and all.

Peterson inexplicably trying to throw a 3-2 change up to the 9 hitter.

Alvarez throwing behind the runner allowing the game winning run to get to third base after a passed ball.

No excuses. This was a piss poor disaster.

I guess their is always tomorrow.

Look no further than 5 for 33 with RISP, poor starts by Canning and Megill, two blown leads of 5-1 and 4-1 by the bullpen for the 4 straight losses. Throw in some bonehead moves from the bench and on the field and you find yourself suddenly in the valley.
Agree on Alvarez; frankly, I consider Mauricio certainly still too early to tell and Vientos deserves the benefit of the doubt after last year but the vaunted Met farm system seems overhyped. Regarding Alvarez, Acuna and Baty, occasional moments do not major leaguers make.

Agreed on the farm system, and honestly I think we need to be pretty active at the deadline. We could use another arm (or two), and the bottom of the lineup desperately needs some guys who can just… get on base and not strikeout constantly

It's a long season and we're a little banged up. Last night was the worst loss of the year, and I really don't want to be the team that gives Atlanta life. They scare me more than the Phillies.

Our defense still remains my number one concern. It has been mediocre-to-bad all year, and has cost us late in games. It's going to cost us in October unless there are upgrades. Torrens over Alvarez is a very easy one, as is Baty over Vientos.

I think our rotation is a very good 162-season rotation, but do wonder how it stacks up as a October-rotation. I'd really like to be able to get a guy like Alcantara or Peralta at the deadline. Bullpens are always streaky by nature, so anybody should be looking to load up on high-end proven arms. Aroldis Chapman is a horrible person, but a fantastic fit.

I still have faith in Vientos hitting once he returns. Winker will help as well. That will lengthen our lineup significantly more. I do think those two will have to be the full-time DHs. Since there are no real upgrades to be had at catcher, I think this is why we're hearing so much rumors about upgrading offensively at center field. It is hard to watch Alvarez bat at this point.

I'd appreciate an aggressive approach at the deadline. We can't count on having these years every year.

I was watching MLBN and they were having a discussion about how a number of “prospects” have really struggled upon promotion. For example Roman Anthony the top prospect in all of baseball is hitting .080. Marcelo Mayer is hitting .214. Jack Caglianone is hitting .196. Dylan Crews is hitting .196. These guys were higher ranked than our guys. (Subjective with a grain of salt)

The conversation was about how the jump from AAA to MLB is steeper than it was in the past. Feeling was these guys don’t face the quality pitching at AAA. Not sure what I believe but it’s something to keep in mind. Of course a guy like Alvarez has over 800 MLB ABs and appears to be in full regression. A trip back to Syracuse might be helpful.

Only 222 plate appearances in AAA for his career.

Exactly, and honestly (I love the guy and want to keep him) I'm not sure Pete will be quite the same dude post pay day. He will still be good, but this might be a type of lightning in a bottle season that you put your best foot forward in trying to capitalize on.

Also, I hate to even think about it, but Lindor turns 32 this year. There's no telling how long his prime lasts, even though I hope it lasts another 7 years, you can never know with these things. So I hope we have a good deadline

All these things that I/we have discussed are rearing their ugly head right now and it has to be righted before the Braves turn their season around. This team makes boneheaded decisions quite often and that’s on the coaches too.

I have full confidence in Pete the next 5 years. I've been beating the stay away from older players drum since they banned HGH, but power is the last thing to go. I'm far more concerned with guys like Nimmo aging poorly.

Lindor does worry me, because he's soooo freaking good right now and almost impossible to replace.

Promoting these kids before they get 80 games in AAA is pure negligence. Another factor is that most of these kids missed the 2020 season...that's never happened before. In the case of Baty and Alvarez, both apply.

Things getting dicey for Blackburn already
Blackburn is a stiff. It was a nice story coming back from a serious injury and all but he just doesn’t belong on a good team. He’s basically chucking BP. Just watch how the hitters are reacting to his pitches. This whole he’s eating innings is a bunch of crap if his ERA is almost 8.

Good news is we can watch the NBA Finals without thinking how the Mets are doing. 🤪 Guess not. Just figured out the NBA is tomorrow.

This is why that Lindor homer at the end of last season was so much more for this fanbase than just a playoff clincher. It actually gave us a good memory in Atlanta. Because every time we go down there, it plays out like this. Every damn time
