maybe I'm wrong, but looks more like it's being sanded down and repainted

would be nice to have the classic font St. John's logo incorporated but my guess is perhaps the boring STJ logo along with outline of NYC skyline

Anyone have any knowledge of actual look ?

I am hoping it will have a NYC skyline incorporated into it.
 
Looks good. Although, I am not a fan of the "We Are New York's Team" on both baselines. Kinda like we're begging for respect.

I really like the clean look. I wonder if the main logo has a blue or a black outline. Hoping for blue.
 
I like it, but we’ll have to win consistently for it to be more than just braggadocio.
So, I like it—if that puts the heat on the Administration and Staff to revive our program and keep it that way.
 
Looks very fresh and clean I like it. But it could use a bitttt more. As others have said, the skyline could have been added and it continues to shock me how the school seemingly refuses to use the old school fancy "St. John's" font that are on our jerseys. Not on merchandise and not on campus. I think that's our best logo in addition to the interlocking SJ. The St. John's spelled out in block form is too long and blocky. Was thinking the skyline would be added at midcourt under the SJ logo and then each baseline would have the fancy font "St. John's" spelled out. Another good idea would have been to spell out "Carnesecca Arena" as the old one was on each baseline but in the cool old school font.

Oh well, can't have it all and this is still a big upgrade! The old court looked crappy on TV and in person...was definitely in need of a facelift.

Agree Las Vegan. It must be earned to be genuine, but to have it and play up to it, is a ‘brand-building’ honor that will become an ingrained legacy in th minds of players and fans.
But you’re right, it’s worthless and embarrassing without success.

Syracuse already beat us to it. We didn't like it when they proclaimed it. SJU is physically in nyc, unlike Syracuse or Conn., but we have no more right to claim "We are New York's Team," than DePaul can claim Chicago. Right now Loyola is Chicago's team. They earned it.

And SHU can grow into that premier role - imo likely to happen with progress this year - needless to say - all the more likely w Mr. Heron on the court.
We can become the Gonzaga of the East - long overdo.

We do at least have a winning streak vs Syracuse don't we?
 
Syracuse has New York State's College Team on the walls behind the goal posts on each side of the field. They also have it in electric signs in the corners. I want to vomit, every time my eyes cross it at football games.

Exactly ... but unlike Syracuse, which is 250 miles from New York City, Loyola is actually in Chicago, hence its claim would make sense. However, I'm quite willing to concede that 'Cuse is Upstate New York's team ... but not NYC's team, as implied.

The court at MSG games is horrible... always seems like Kinicks are playing that same night, so they just slap a few stickers on the floor and the royal blue and red look like total mismatches.
