New Facility Requests

Patience in order, Father Shanley himself toured every inch of CA with esteemed architect Art Vandelay today, so expect some progress in redesign development.
Next time Father Shanley walks past me at CA, I'm going to ask if wants to switch seats. Let him have the pleasure of having the knees of the guy behind implanted in my back. That may help with some changes.

Maybe instead you should thank Father Stanley for upgrading St Johns basketball and having the nerve to hire Rick Pitino
Not Stanley’s fault the arena sucks and I believe he will make the needed upgrades

He may suggest hair shirt atonement

Tongue in cheek my man. I had a kid at PC when he turned it around, I know what he means to an athletic program. They named a dorm after him, hopefully he has the same effect here in the long term.

Those fake seat backs were under Craggs reign. If anyone has any pull with Kull and could mention them, it’s not like it was idea and the cost to rip them out would have to be next to nothing. And now that tickets are selling again at CA the 50 to 100 extra seats that would come back would add game after game revenue.

These things are a universal failure, you talk to people at halftime who are in these sections and it’s 10-1 people who hate them.

can only imagine someone <5'8 / 150lbs finds those seats comfortable.

I enjoy my CA seats- sec 11 row B against the Railing... i can stand all game without blocking anyone... and half the time- row A doesnt show

An adequate seating capacity for basketball should be 7500! The more high profile games would be played at MSG!
Villanova’s arena was well done and I believe the seating capacity is around 7500

Idea is always the more successful the more MSG games. Spending a lot on an arena on campus is nice for the IDRAFTs but I don’t blame SJU for not spending that type of money as if the team does well it would hardly be used. If the team is bad CA is comfortable, the last two CMA years you could lay down in “your” row if you attended, and empty arenas do not get hot.

Rip out the foam, put some handrails between sections before someone dies, send all season ticket holders reminders to wear shorts and a t- shirt no matter the weather report.

None of that will add up to a material expense.

I had a whole section to myself in the upper level for the whole Fam - one of Julian's last games vs X...

At 5'6 , 160 I can confirm it's hit or miss.

It's great only if the person in front of you doesn't weigh over 200 lbs as the seatbacks can flex back easily.

My wife is much smaller than me and she had to sit sideways whole game.

I have been told that the getting rid of the seats with the backs in the second level has been met with strong resistance and shot down. Hopefully that gets revisited soon and comes to fruition.

Have to wonder if that was made by opinion only or driven by facts on $ loss on ticket prices and surveys of preference.

I was a fan of seatbacks the first few times but the last game was awful to fit for 4 of the 5 in my group. Only one without issue was my niece who is 5'1

Ed Kull should try sitting in that seat for a full game. He wouldn't last thru the first media time out.

Hopefully in a couple of years they'll only be playing a handful of games there and it won't matter as much.
