I am pretty positive we are locked in as a two seed. This means we will matchup against one of the four fifteen seeds. I don't have a working Crystal Ball but I see the most likely teams to be fifteen seeds as:

1) Montana
2) Nebraska-Omaha
3) Bryant
4) Robert Morris

If we face Bryant we will match up with the son of the former St. Joseph's coach Phil Martelli, Bryant Head Coach Phil Martelli Jr.

Personally I would like to face Robert Morris to take them to the woodshed as payback for the embarrassing loss they pinned on us at Carnesecca in the opening round of the 2014 N.I.T. As a one seed, we were non-competitive in that game. It was just about the lowest moment of the entire Lavin regime IMHO.

Regardless, the outlook of matching up with any of these four teams should be good. Of course you never know, but assuming we win going forward will provide round by round challenges that we have the toolkit to handle.

that's a rule ? Wow never realized that
Yes.

“1. If possible, rematches of non-conference regular-season games should be avoided in the First Four and first round. As a secondary consideration, the committee will attempt to avoid potential rematches from non-conference regular-season games in the second round.”

Rule out New Mexico, Baylor or Georgia also.

Omaha is somebody we should handle. If we win then we could draw Kansas in the second round and hook up with old friends Norm Roberts and A. J. Storr plus Zuby gets to see his old team.

Of course we could meet Arkansas instead and the media will eat up the Calipari versus Pitino matchup.

Quick glance at the metrics and Omaha is a bit of a tricky matchup for us. Their defense stinks but mostly because they give up a ton of 3s (not our strength). They are surprisingly strong on the defensive glass and don’t turn the ball over much.

Take care of omaha, i really want Kansas for two reasons, first to revenge the loss at the UBS arena a few years back and more importantly to embarrass that revered cocky asst coach they have who did more damage to St John’s basketball than any person in the universe. Beat Kansas stick it to the Norm enablers.

Norm did not do damage to our program. That is hyperbole
