NCAA Tourney matchups

CBS just said GTown wouldve gotten in before us

17 wins and a 67 RPI yet they are listed as just missed and we aren't? We can't even get a mention when we are out!
Which does raise an interesting question. If we won against Providence and Seton Hall, yet lost in the finals, would we make it? I'm not sure that we would now...

Only if it brought our RPI to under 50. Seems like that was the Mendoza line for at large bids. Hence the 6 bids from the A-10 and 5 from the ACC.

SMU in the low 50s didn't make it. Their SOS killed them.

PC winning the BE knocked Xavier down to a 12 seed. So had we lost in the finals we would have been the 12 seed and Xavier would have been the 11 and PC would be out.

Good to see you back.

At least we know if we only won 1 more we wouldn't have gotten in

However, had we taken care of business during the season like Villanova and Creighton winning the Big East would not have been the issue. Had SJ, Gtown and Marquette had the year they were predicted to have the new Big East could have easily been a 5-6 team bid league. I suspect that when it expands to 12 teams that will be the norm.

The committee saw the AAC for what it is. A paper tiger. Without Louisville next year it'll be even worse. They got fat on having 5 of the 10 worst big conference teams in the country making up 50% of their schedule. Louisville only getting a 4 shows you that. They lost to the 2 good teams they played out of conference then played an AAC schedule and the committee said Meh. Like Larry said in his presser, as soon as he saw Louisville as a 4 he know where the conference stood and knew his chances were slim to none.

so I was really hoping to go to an NCAA regional but as luck would have it we fell short. But come Sunday I was still wishing to go to an NCAA regional. I am now on a business trip in the far west and at a conference in a hotel. Not 15 minutes ago I here in the lobbycollege band music playing, and in comes the North Dakota State University basketball team. They are here for the regional against Oklahoma State. I feel like I got my wish, so be careful what you wish for.especially when you are a St John's fan

I still don't understand how a team is ranked in the Top 25 and doesn't make the NCAA tournament
If their SOS was an issue, they didn't deserve to be nationally ranked in the first place
IMO, you can't have it both ways - if they are ranked, they have to be in the NCAA field

Well they're not ranked so stop worrying about it. They were ranked the week before the conference tournament but a loss to Houston dropped them out of both rankings. In fact they didn't even get a vote in writers poll this week. Was an also receiving votes in the coaches poll.

Besides, the people doing the ranking are not the same people picking the field. Can't blame the selection committee for them being ranked most of the year.

Looks like Rat Face was right NC State looks too tough for Xavier

I think Harvard beats Cincy and I think Providence beats North Carolina

It won't last long. But I do have St Joes over Pukon

I guess someone should fire Martelli, They went out in the first round after winning A10. UCONN wanted it more
especially when the freshman hit the turnaround and free throw after getting the offensive rebound. :p

With our NCAA chances hanging in the balance, we got manhandled in the first round of our league tournament. We then got annihilated at home in the first round of the NIT by a mid-major who we were 15 point favorites over. St. Joe's, a 4 seed, won their conference tournament and then lost a hard fought battle in OT to a higher seeded and tough UCONN team. I'm sure that the St. Joe's fans are disgruntled, but there's no comparison..

How do you foul on a two when you're up 3. Let him score and just inbound the ball.
