Why are you trying so hard to discredit an Arkansas team that beat Kansas, the #5 team in the country by 11, and took a 3 seed to overtime in one week. Both teams looked really good last night.
If you caught my drift it’s this . Arkansas showed 3 times in the tournament , they were a 35 -36 minute team .
You guys can post that until the end of time and it remains a specious argument. That was not the time nor game to make that move. If Luis had not reverted to that mode of play with no repercussions at times for two years, OK, but evidently the possibility that could occur at the worst of times never entered Pitino’s mind. How about taking him out, reading him the “do or sit” riot act and seeing what happens? In other words, how about coaching instead of quitting? From a friend in the know:
And while I’m here…. Got info from former assistant coach who works w me at cbs regarding RJ Luis. Was benched at 4:56 as you know. At the under 4 timeout Zuby confronted him told him he was playing selfishly needed to pass more etc and basically RJ ignored him. Pitino then said F it he’s not going back in
C'mon..You don't know what was said by Luis or Pitino either to say it was wrong time to make that move. If Luis was really zoned out, would you still keep him in to ride or die with? You guys can post that until the end of time and it remains a specious argument. He created a team to be admired forever but in the end IMO he stopped coaching and he grabbed his throat. Just like he never tried a zone when his defense was carved up all game. He is a great coach but like Luis and the majority of the team picked the wrong game to have a horrible one.
Neither of us was in the locker room at half time and neither of us knows if and what was said to RJ, by Coach or by any other assistant coach or teammates during the game. You just do not know that Pitino did not read him the riot act. Pure assumption on your part that he did not because you did not see it happen before your eyes. I respect your opinion but I do not agree with it here. You guys can post that until the end of time and it remains a specious argument. That was not the time nor game to make that move. When Zuby shook him and he couldn't even look Zuby in the eye, that's the key. Stage was a little too big, or whatever, but he was outC'mon..You don't know what was said by Luis or Pitino either to say it was wrong time to make that move. I refused to watch the Arkansas game out of spiteIt seems like everyone here was watching the Ak-TT games and not Duke; I watched a bunch of that game if for no other reason than I really hadn't seen Duke much this year. No big shock to say Cooper Flagg is ridiculous, double so since he only just turned 18. But what I was shocked at was how good a facilitator he was. Kid had seven assists last night, a bunch were dimes! I was praying RJ was somewhere watching this kid and absorbing the lesson that you can average 18-19 a game and be the focal point of an offense and make it happen for your teammates. Had no idea Flagg averaged 4.5 assists per game. No reason RJ couldnt do that too.
Yeah Cal mentioned you first in the post game presser when asked what went wrong tonight.I refused to watch the Arkansas game out of spite
Finally I get the recognition I deserve!Yeah Cal mentioned you first in the post game presser when asked what went wrong tonight.![]()

Very good points . But Flagg has teammates that can shoot . We didn’t .
How can you possibly comment on what Pitino said and did coaching that game? You have no idea what was said to players during the game! Your opinion without fact creates more chaos and innuendo! Nothing constructive whatsoever! You guys can post that until the end of time and it remains a specious argument. That was not the time nor game to make that move. I do not have the same bball IQ as others here but I do not think Cal is alone in that world to not foul when up by 3 pts. I have heard this point debated many times both ways on TV while watching games. Just curious what would CRP have done? It was a tough loss for them. I was actually rooting for them to win but they collapsed at end.Big mistake by Cal not fouling when up 3pnts, instead the TT player nails the 3 to force OT.
Bad job there.
Here's something that would be unpopular with many on hereFrom a friend in the know:

Word spreads fast if he did it that indelicately. Here's something that would be unpopular with many on here
What if Pitino says to RJ: " you screwed the team on the biggest stage of the season, therefore I don't want you back."
Don't know what he'll do but who could fault him if he told RJ Luis good bye?
No one is bigger than the team.
I would agree with you 20 years ago but now it’s hard to teach these lessons and there is a generational gap. NIL and open transfer has changed the landscape. All the posters on here have a strong personal connection to SJU but I do not think that the same connection is felt by CRP or the players. Let’s be real our team is assembled by way of Frankenstein, we get who we can (not necessarily who we want) because for 25 + years we have sucked. Hopefully that will soon change given the buzz and exposure the past 2 seasons. Here's something that would be unpopular with many on here
