NCAA Tournament Thread

as sad as we all were last year not getting in, imagine being a Mountaineer fan.

Not only do you have to live in West Virginia ;) but this morning I put UNC and West Virginia's schedule side by side, and I truly don't know how it could be possible that UNC got in the tournament

It has to be the worst snub I have ever seen. And then West Virginia's coach goes and takes the Indiana job. What a horrible week for those fans

Yikes

We're on 25% of Final Fours. So weird to see.
UNC beating SD State means less than nothing. This was about what you did to “earn” a spot before the Tournament. I literally listen to Francessa excuse the bid by claiming they got the bid because they are a “brand”. Duh. That’s the issue. By the way, SD State on a neutral Court is the equivalent of another Q2 or maybe even a Q3 win? In fact, winning the “play in” itself is not even technically a Tournament win.

I am not a UNC hater. In fact, I agree that the Tournament prospers when we have a good UNC team. The problem comes when teams don’t think they have a fair shot to get in. The little guy needs to feel they have a shot. That’s the magic of the Tournament. Anyone watch the Alabama St./St. Francis game. That is who/what the play in game was meant for. This whole thing stinks to high heaven.

I have a real problem with UNC being in this year. I don't care about whatever theatrics they used with having the UNC AD leave the room for the voting, he still clearly influenced this decision and we all saw this coming a mile away.

UNC has so much talent every single year that they are a threat to go deep anytime they are allowed in the tournament. They have 8 consensus top 100 recruits on their roster and two very highly rated guys from the portal. They didn't earn an invite. 1-12 in quad 1 games? That's horrific.

I posted Sunday that UNC could make it to the Elite 8 on talent alone. They should have never been given the chance.

Supposedly NCAA using these play in games with “Brand” teams to sell TV networks on paying more money for a larger Tourney(72 teams) and intermittenly to sell the Play in games themselves!

Brand should mean nothing. Resume should be the reason teams get in. The Francesa argument was nonsense

Agreed, but that is outside the scope of their mandate. They are supposed to pick the 68 most deserving schools -- not the best brands or most talented rosters. When a blue blood like UNC has a bad season, that creates a rare opportunity for a lesser program and their fanbase. UNC has missed just 5 tournaments since 1973.They have to be truly awful to miss...it's crazy. In order to be passed over they had to turn in 6-14, 5-11, 6-10, and 4-12 ACC records for 4 of their 5 misses. They would never get turned away with Seton Hall's resume last year. NEVER.

WVU has only made 2 in the last 7 years. Ole Miss has only two seasons with a tournament win this century. And you know, despite what they claim, Xavier was getting screwed if push came to shove. This hurts multiple programs.

Surprised?
Of course not. We would’ve been in last year, strong bubble and bid stealers or not, if we had their brand. I truly have no love lost for the ncaa. I just didn’t think their inclusion was an example of personal corruption.
