If any of you are considering travelling for Round 1 should we get in, prepare for sticker shock on airfares.

The lowest fare venue as of today is charlotte at about $320 RT. The others are priced at about $500-1000 as the lowest fares for non stop flights.

If you choose a connecting flight, fares will be lower, but of course more tedious.
 
You can normally find good fares to Winston Salem as well which isn't a far drive from Charlotte. I normally flew from there instead of CLT when I came home.

I think we are heading to louisville. Think of flying to Nashville and driving to louisville
 
great thread and sunday night once announced if people see great airfares put the info up please

also connections and flying to other airport info like Gman and Dee just gave would be great too

My kids want Seattle or Portland, but I can tell you i'm not shelling out 5 grand for a weekend in Seattle. Seattle hotels figure to be expensive. Last couple of times I was there were in the $300 range per night in the city

Just checked out RT fares to Louisville from LGA and getting fares of $857 and up. Charlotte was a lot lower but still showing $425, depending on times of flights and whether non-stops or not.

Hotels also pretty pricey and they are all jacking up rates on Friday and Saturday nights.

Luckily I have tons of miles and hotel points and hopefully will be able to use those to get to any destination. But even that's a crap shoot, again depending on location and flight times.

ughhh. that's going to suck. Another place to check for staying is airbnb.com. We've used it several times when traveling overseas and it's awesome
 
Do we know what time in general the games are at each location ? Was wondering if we got friday and potential sunday game what time that arena is having their games to plan the flight home when announced

I got $184 round trip Thursday-Monday. Had to apply for the Priceline credit card for $50 discount. Named my own price of $200. Not sure what I'm doing about lodging yet.

I recently received some extra vacation days, so no problem there.
 
Looks like myself, SJU11REDMEN (I think that's his username) and 2 other redmen.com lurkers will be driving down to Charlotte Thursday after work. Should know for sure tomorrow. Bummed about the news earlier in the day but still extremely excited to be watching the boys in the tournament. LET'S GO JOHNNIES!!

hopefully we get the first game. i know you guys traveled to denver last time and were disappointed in 2011.
