NCAA - Game 1 - San Diego St. (Friday)

Four years ago the Johnnies faced Zags team that shot 48% overall and 37% from three with a huge moose in the lane. Tomorrow they face a team that shoots a shade under 42% overall and 32% from three. SDSU has one player that can score over 37% from three. The Zags had four players shooting over 37% from three.

Honestly if you told me right now that we had CO I could make a plausible argument that we have a shot at the FF. Iowa St is already out. We should've beat Duke last time and we almost beat Gonzaga as well. But alas, without Obekpa.....One game at a time though - beat SDSU!!!

The Johnnies are not a great three-point shooting team but we give them a puncher’s chance in this game.

Finally, some respect! I heard a little of Jon Rothstein on WFAN this morning and he gave us absolutely no chance. Went on about how athletic and long the Aztecs are and that St. John's will be very at a severe disadvantage. And of course, those two college basketball know nothings, Roberts and Benigno, were in total agreement.

I hope Lavin is sing all this disrespect we're getting as a motivational tool.

2) Those who have seen us in games where we shoot poorly.
3) Those who have seen us when Jordan, Harrison, Greene, and Branch can all scorch threes with regularity.

Keeping with my "Opposites George" take on today's game, I expect us to play like garbage and lose by 15

I want to win this for a lot of reasons. For the seniors first. But also to face Duke just to have a chance to give them some aggravation. No one will give us any chance, so the players should be loose. Plus the JDR-Okafor match-up will be a once in a lifetime thing to see.
 
A major X factor is going to be how well our guys handle the pressure of playing in the tourney. This is SDSU's sixth straight NCAA appearance, so they've got a bunch of guys who've been here several times before, including the sweet 16 last year. For us, Harrison's emotional state will be key, IMO.
 
St. John's has to shoot great. When they are hitting from the outside at a high percentage they are a tough out. SDSU can't score enough to stay with them if they're hot.
 
I am incredibly nervous and anxious about this game tonight. Win or lose, I don't think I'll be going to sleep soon after the game.
 
If we are loose, and stroking it from behind the arc, we will beat the Aztecs!
 
Sir Charles was going over his brackets for today's games and when he came to our game, of course with SDU in black marker beating us on his dry erase whiteboard, Clark Kellogg told him that he will need to have his red marker handy. B)
