I've always been curious as to how and why people came up with their names for this site. I used to use my first initial and last name (how prosaic) until I switched.

My First 25 years were in Brooklyn= "Brook"
Next 40 years are in NJ= "Jersey"
Equals BrookJersey
double alum and huge Johnny fan="Redmen"

Shortened version of my last name, and nickname from high school days

I pretty much use mjmaherjr for everything because it’s my name it’s easy to remember and that way if anyone has a problem with me I’m easy to find.

Sig Ep- The name of my Fraternity on campus

SJU that's obvious

09 the year I graduated St Johns

The SJU and Redmen parts are obvious.

11 is for Tomas Jasiulionis believe it or not. When I first started really following the team I took a liking to him for some reason.

This one really didnt need an explanation.

Basically I butchered mine lol. The Ripdumaine part is the knock names for 2 of my best friends who were murdered. Duski was killed in 96, Maine in 2000. The Patrick c is my 1st name and middle initial. Not sure how that got in, and an too computer illiterate to fix it lol. So that's my story

What part of Brooklyn if you don't mind.

Barbs is the beginning of my last name without the s and the 20 is my birthday. Barbs is also my nickname for most.

Gman is because I was attending Gettysburg College when I joined. I think this is the first message board I ever joined. I had no idea how to come up with a screen name and no idea why I chose Gman.

55 years ago I was in charge of basketball p r for the student body organization at NYU. When you go from violet to red you pass through fuchsia.

Didn't realize I put my first name in the area where it says how would you like to be identified on the site. Never switched it. Hey MCNPA, what setting are you a physician assistant at?

Porgyman = (aka scup for those of you in New England), the fish that I love to catch (and eat).

Brooklyn part of my handle was actually Flatbush, first Holy Cross, then St. Jerome's near "the Junction" not far from Brooklyn College, and a short bike ride to Chris Mullin and Marine Park. was one year ahead of Mike Dunleavy Sr. at Nazareth High School, East Flatbush/Canarsie.

After living in jersey 20 years I still said "from BKLYN" when asked where I was from, that has changed as much longer in Jersey than NY by this time..But Brooklyn and St. John's through and through.
